So what's the big deal, you farmed in Manitoba and now in Sk, who do you think opened those lands? Pioneers who cleared the land with horses in many cases and no modern equipment. That's something note worthy!

Now you post pictures of land being open in Argentina initiated by a government with all sorts of modern equipment which is on the verge if not already dealing with economic collapse. So what!

"Argentina's currency woes have deepened in recent weeks despite determined policy responses on the part of the government and the central bank, as well as a $50bn financial package from the IMF.

The country is now the world's riskiest sovereign borrower behind Venezuela. It's currency, the peso, has halved in value this year against the dollar. Today, Argentina is on financial life support, with the highest interest rates in the world."

Are you thinking of setting new roots soon?
Sinply showing that they are indeed making more farmland. That's what

Argentinas currency worse have a lot more to do with the China/us trade war than anything in the country.

China uses Argentina as a major plank in OBOR (one belt one road). The USA wants to stop China's influence from expanding so the USa is pulling funds out of Argentina and most other developing nation's China has an interest in.

All this idle bullshit talk from American media is just that idle bullshit

Argentina has more resources than we do, more people to extract it, lower cost of living and far better access to tidewater. In the last decade also far greater infrastructure investment.

The only thing that deperates us from them is Americans like us but they hate Argentina...

We can learn a lot of lessons from their history...

IE what happens when the quality of your leaders steadily declines.

I don't care what colour you vote. When we had Martin, Layton, and Harper, we had three competent leaders.

Now with Singh, Trudeau, and Sheer with have the three stooges... And once that decline starts it's a disease and oes on for a long time destroying the nation state.

There, that's what I want to get across with my post.

And on that, we can mostly agree. Argentina's track record for leadership has been nothing short of abysmal. Going from one of the richest nations to an economic basket case in spite of all the benefits of resources, geography, demographics, climate etc. But I doubt we will learn from history, we need to make all the same mistakes ourselves.

Interesting video. I suspect that isn't new land. Judging by the size and age of the trees, this must be land that has sat idle for a decade or three and the trees have taken over. Most of the pics don't show any large stumps or roots, just mellow soil under those saplings, so it has been broke before.

No such thing as new land however there is land that will never be suitable again for food production due to urban sprawl.

You bet sir. There was this lady doing dental work out of her mobile home. Unlicensed of course. Alberta health got tipped off and shut her down. Sounded disgusting from this government stop order.

Our family has been clearing trees in the area since the early eighties when my dad and his friend bought a D6C together. Did a lot of our own stuff and lots for neighbors to bring in some cash during the winter. Finally upgraded to an 8n in March which was way overdue and still have about 400 acres of our own to do yet. Poplars are a weed up here and you need to control them or else in ten years they’re big enough you need to push them with a dozer again.

I’m standing beside the fence in this picture and the left side was in hay till ten years ago and is now in pasture. They’ve crept about 50’ into the field already.

Now that land is becoming pricey and almost impossible to find it pencils out good for clearing.

                    This was March 22.

This is today in the same spot. The frosted oats that are probably high in nitrates with too much mud under them to put the cows in still looks better than a year ago. Just got to burn the piles this winter and next year probably seed to alfalfa pasture for a few years to let the roots rot down and it’ll be a great field. Interesting to see how others do it a half a world away.

How so, I know you follow commodity prices. More production, driving world prices down. Will Argentina's farmers be paid with the 50 BILLION borrowed from the IMF?

The RM of Clayton knows how to design bridges but you can’t study an “act of God”. 😂
