Cause for optimism regarding the weather

So far this year, most of us have been worrying about the wrong battle as far as the weather goes, so perhaps we are wrong again now.

Other areas may differ, but locally this is what happened:
In March and right up to the bitter end of April we were certain seeding would be drastically late, wet and huge areas would be unseeded due to being too wet. Snow and cold just wouldn't leave.
-Miraculously, 10 days later we were seeding end to end in very good conditions.

Shortly after that we switched to worrying that it was too dry and hot, drought would devastate yields.
-It turned out that those who complained the loudest, also ended up with some respectable yields( or at least potential yields)

Then we thought we would have an early easy harvest with good quality, till the smoke came and delayed everything.

While still worried about drought and it's continuation into next year, constant rain and snow arrived instead.

So since we are all convinced that winter is here to stay, we are probably just as wrong as all year, and instead, a different catastrophe is about to strike instead. Just not sure what is left that hasn't already occurred? Acute diesel fuel shortage just as the weather smartens up? Electromagnetic storm and none of our equipment will run? Is it too late for a locust plague? Asteroid strike? Perhaps Yellowstone will finally blow?

I completely agree. Predicting the future is very tough. Human nature tends to fear the future and think of the worst.

True optimism is often mistaken for oblivious stupidity....it’s a fine line I guess.

Forecast for next couple weeks not great but like most pendulums they swing to far then swing back. I am betting that with a bit of luck, we end up with a great late October or early November harvest weather. Take that drew...free A4A forecast!

I am still planning one more boat ride at the lake!

In this area seeding was later but not as late as feared earlier. However, many fields did not mature properly thanks to the smoke and cool weather since late august so somewhat confirming earlier fears. Summer was on the dry side overall and the areas of the field that dried out did mature in time. Still have green berries in the wheat which is making things wet rather than merely tough, Some are harvesting here and there. It is too early to have all the bins full of tough grain as there likely will be an opportunity to get some close to dry stuff yet,

Looks like some weather delays coming to the US corn belt....

Weather delays are not devastating there like here because corn is a generic commodity and quality factors don't play much of a roll in its value. And it overwinters quite well. And they routinely use grain dryers. Wish the same could be said about the crops out in the field here.

Here I thought by the title you were gonna offer an amended happy forcast. Now I just feel let down again. Lol

Not a bunch of optimism here at -7 and no shortage of snow.

I'll see your -7 and no shortage of snow and raise it with -10 and 8 inches of snow.

Even more cause for optimism this AM, there is almost no rain in the entire 14 day guesscast. There is however another 20 cm of snow.

Put the two together, and it would be nearly ideal snowmobiling conditions, my kids optimism will go to record heights. Trouble is, limited places to ride since most crops are still out.

My wife complains about endless winters around here. And for most of my life it seemed like the opposite, snowmobiling season was desperately short, only a month or 2 back during the good old days of global warming. This year, the poor sledding season only lasted for May, June, July and August. Ride till the end of April( out of necessity, couldn't get around without, trust me, I tried), and have been out multiple times already in September.

Oh no!, there are unlimited places to sled. You just have not factored in the 98% crowd that sees that snow covered space, but not your canola swaths underneath. Everybody - enjoy your sledding.
