Canola bag it or air bin it until it can be dried

Canola is testing 15.5 may drop a touch again tommorrow but looking like maybe 5 -6 days of usuable weather left in Octobers forecast, and Nov is a hell of a gamble the way things have been going, time to fire up the dryer but it wont keep up to the combines.
So question is go with it to air bins until we can dry it or bag it then dry it before cooling it in the air bins?
Haven't had to fire the old girl up for alot of years as aeration has been enough until this fall but think times up .
The chart says 3 - 4 weeks at that moisture and 5 c it was reading 15-17 this afternoon when we ran a test hoping to get it to 14mt before we go as that gives us some time to get to it but not sure if thats in the cards this year.

It depends how big the air bin is? I would be cautious of storing anything over 15 for more than 10 days. Im not sure a bag would be best but Ive heard of canola heating in those too.

Have 5's a couple , tens and a 20 available after that Im out of bin space. Was going to start with the 5s, everythings cabled the newer 20 has mt and temp. though thinking im going to save that to put dry grain from the dryer to cool . May break down and transfer dry grain out of its buddy beside it with 2 15 hp fans on it which i did on purpose for higher air flow , but not thinking canola as pretty rare for this situation to happen in usually sunny southern AB.

Cold ground ill bag over bin any days. Sweep it off after. Shoot a crow and put it on a stake to deter them. You don't want any holes. Seal it as good as possible. Heating requires oxygen. If for some reason we get warmer weather move it. All I've seen heat in a bag is a hopper or absolute most 2. Big bins id be scared it starts heating on the walls inward. Had that happen in '16 in a 10k bin.

Looking at the forecast this morning I think it may drop a couple more points today if it does that think I may be going to start at hopefully 13 moisture fill 5s half full and run the fans that will get us moving until the next system comes through then hopefully have drier stuff later in the week looks like the snow event may not be as severe as earlier forecasted and we may get a week to 10 days following that may see it dry to 12 and below at which point aeration will be enough I think, should be able to get it off with a week, if I can save the fun of getting the dryer going after about 15 or so years as well as the fuel costs that would be preferable,

We will bag for good if canola gets to 11.5 and probably not dry.

Two more days of HRS then canola will start at 20 and down for moisture.

If the temp stays like yesterday you'll get your 10 days bagging then dry. But don't decide to oh I should do other things and dry in a few more you might get a smelly surprise.

Binned canola and aeration is a joke. It will go boom on the coldest day in December after a two day warms up to zero. or mid-January.

Here is a quick explanation. When we are drying 20 moisture canola the wet bin is cleaned empty after every two days because it will have build up inside that is already starting to try to heat.

Yea its great to be done harvest and Input Viagra is happy you achieved the goal but the reality is lots more will be lost in bins and bags that were left in the field.
