Interesting comment. Thank goodness there is no question as to what my wheat is this year. Best one lately was an offer on 14% CWRS..... but the "premium" was lost if it came in at 13.8..... POINT TWO..... any protein tester can easily be out that much. And bin variability. You better have a big gap above 14% to ensure you're not "penalized"!!!!! There's always an angle....

Yep, the seed companies stroke the farm reps’ ego, wine and dine them and then the pussies lay on their backs to get their bellies scratched. Here kitty - kitty. Yep, its so easy if you are a yes man.

I have learnt that if you question so called representative farm groups ..you get label or some really stupid comments come out from them...

If you question a group using some of the NFUs stats ...then you are automatically an NDP.

If you question why pulse growers are not getting support in this trade issue ...directors start talking about the CWB ..and I am not sure how its related....

Questioning anyone or suggesting a more wide angle view bothers people because it points out how ****ing stupid and myopic they really are taking care of their own interests.

See I’m fighting to finish harvest and work like a fool to put food on the table and look after my family. I’m fighting Mother Nature right down to the last chance. Yet useless fools want more money to play. Farmers need to take back our industry before it’s gone.

If your a farmer and think your still in control your part of the problem.

Rain all way around down to 120 acres of HRS.

That still goes flat from snow.

Wheat breeders don't have to worry about snow when they are running their research...so why should you????

Its an excellent variety just look at the stats we collected over a couple acre plot...

everyone , get your money that they have taken from you ,before the deadline
let them fund their political aspirations on their own
saw a good one a few years back , newcomer running for one of "our farm groups" so the ones that were in got together and ganged up against the newcomer . they campaigned together and told farmers who to vote for
you can't make this shit up

Look what happened in the saskpulse elections....three candidates for two positions ...then a director resigns to make room for three....

Vision means you know what you are doing months in advance not a couple weeks ....there really should have been three positions to run for and maybe more interest generated....not from me because I was in the middle of harvest which is sort of a retarded time for an election for a farm group...

I wish the pulse level was not mandatory. That thing has turned into a swamp - no more Vicki, Affleck, the old goldies are gone and so are the balls.

that one needs a class action , would be an easy win
especially after they have had their heads in the sand for last year

All these ways of collecting a royalty are not bad in themselves.

What is bad is the patents ,never expire because of the
                      Grower use agreements.

25-30 years ago Quest RR canola came out ,Patent at the time. Was 15 years.

We protected their innovation and royalties for the patent period.
Like every other invention or innovation, in return

For that protection eventually the advancement becomes
                      Public .
We are not paying an Edison descendent 1$ a bulb
                      Royalty . Or the microwave
                      oven inventor 100$.

The seed on the other hand is inaccessible to the public.

And whatever improvement they breed into canola now
Would be valued and priced against a publicly available
Quest or liberty. But that is not happening.

You are free to plant your own seed, but only from
50 year old varieties. We will never let you access anything newer.

I think. the whole situation is really scary for
                      Farmers and consumer's.

Just wait till they have the same lock on the cereals
                      And the pluses .

Well , if you do not like our 30$ a pound canola seed
We have wheat at70$/bushel or peas at 50$/ BUSHEL. Every year.

I KNOW I say the same crap about this everytime it comes up.
                      SORRY about that.
But it has to be said

Cry me a river it was a good article but still it will cost farmers and if a farmer actually believes it’s hood they are the problem.

We’re getting beat to death with regulation and extra costs for parasites to get rich.

And China Russia Ukraine and South America will replace us because they don’t pander to idiots.

Rain missed so on with harvest .

If we are not going with public
                            Breeding.
Killed by the conservative and liberal govt.s

                            As for farmer breeding. Whatever
Bitch we may have with the pulse growers. At least we have accessible public varieties.
That is more than we get anywhere
                            Else.

So we hand it all over to the big boys . Bayer etc.etc.
How about some rules to make it a actual competitive market.
Instead of the Cartel we are building now.
I am sure some Chinese Co would
Gladly breed US a Quest or poor man's liberty.
But guess who has been making up the rules to make sure that does not ever happen

The day I have to pay anything for farm saved seed, either upfront or back end royalty is the day I quit. Or load it up and take it across the line, or let the chinese load it here on containers and go right around the terminal system.
