Not exactly my situation. I have been running combine for a larger farmer who then custom combines for me. They have done their best to accommodate me but nobody expected the fall weather to be worse than the last two years which were both bad. Been researching weather records and this is by far the worst stretch of weather in this area for four years running now.

SK, I am curious what would be the result of that Kelly harrows on chopped and spread flax straw? Getting real sick of bunching and burning but cant take flax out or rotation.

Sounds just like us here for weather. It’s been downright depressing for three years now. This year I finally thought we turned the corner with the dryness all spring and summer which should have equated to an easy harvest due to a pathetic yield. A couple of feet of snow over multiple events in September changed that quick. The canola never did mature or dry out. Still could twist water out of the green stems the other day. The challenger 670 ate 25’ swathes at 1.5 to 2.5 mph in 30 bushel crop and was using max power most of the time. Haven’t checked the grade yet since I’ll be happy if it makes a #3 canola which is what last year was.

On a happy note the neighbour and us finished last night before the downpour.

Glad to put it away for the year. Now just to disk under a bunch of oats that has too high of nitrates on new clearing that we can’t bale due to roots and stumps. Then build a mile of fence and move home 1400 bales yet. Lots of fun in the cold mud.

I could really use a breather but it’ll be January probably before that happens.

Congrats SF3 and everyone else completed. As for everyone else my thoughts are with you. Two years ago we only got half done and it really eats at you and makes question all that you do. No nice way to sugar coat it.

Let’s hope that next year is better. I’d gladly take normal........ whatever that is anymore.

        The cows enjoyed their “treats”yesterday.

Nice Challenger combine Wood. After running an MF 8570 for the past three years, I am looking for one of my own. We never know how good MF parts and service are because it never needs any. The other combines are Deere 9600 and they have needed parts. Not anything that you would not expect mind you but the MF is the least trouble. For a rotary, it sure handles tough conditions well and is simple.

We might get to half done cleaning up fields before the snow flys.

No, I made it up and back on all flats yesterday except one that I probably shouldn't have tried to GPS.

Sunk the tractor but was able to unhook get out then get the tow rope and clevis attached to the kelly and pull it straight out.

The land was surely working nice yesterday. Even got some trees that the flood killed cleaned up.

The only place you could get stuck on our farm is in a dugout or in a small area of a thirty acre marsh. Otherwise you couldn't even if you tried.

This field in the flood years had 89 Acres rest was Cattails. Back to 150 now. Two trees and a dugout or wide open.

not many sloughs here either , could go wherever you want , with anything , until top got wet. probably got an inch out of all this last snow and rain . think we needed it , though.
got them all disced , first time in years
