I said in another thread I was working on questions for the meeting on December 4th in Saskatoon...I may or may not make it....some of these questions I have asked in other threads but I want to make this strictly for questions that should be asked and maybe people will add a few more...Not too interested in the seed side since they have been lobbying for this for quite awhile ..I am sure they have crossed their "I"s and dotted their "T"s ..puke here...
Here goes and please don't interrupt me or complain about my language...I don't need a microphone ...I am so pissed about this i feel like am in the middle of the field when something breaks down due to manufacturers defects...And you are the piece of machinery I am yelling at....
My name is dumbuckled farmer Bucket and I have a few questions about the proposals put in front of farmers regarding a royalty scheme.
1. How much time has been spent developing this policy…
Do farmers that are impacted get the equivalent time to pander, lobby and fill brown bags with cash as the seed trade has done...
2. Who or where were primary producers in the process.
Can any primary producer put their hand up that represented primary producers or helped fill the cash bags?
3. Will primary producers be able to lobby the same amount of time ?
We deserve to be heard
4. Who polices the new policies
Who is responsible for accuracy of all this
5. Who pays in the event of a default or a dud variety
I will just say Triffid flax and I think we all know where this is going...Not one person sitting at the front helped primary producer in that event...For a variety that was to have been cleansed 10 years prior...NO one accepted responsibility other than to where the bill came...the farmer.
Similar issues have happened in the states with corn and soybeans....lawyers got rich
6. What happens if the graincos are the seed supplier and they restrict contracts to their private label varieties?
Reference here is a Nexera program or the Warburton contracts...
7. Are the new varieties carbon neutral or carbon reducing
I hope for a few laughs at that point
8. Is this just another tax?
Pretty much
9. In mid september according to some reports there was 10 billion worth of grain still in the field…do farmers need to be kicked upside the head with this in harvest?
HAs the new variety that grades 5cwad with 10PPM of fusarium been developed for a dry season because that was a money maker if signed at the right time this year....paid better than a one a month later
10. Does the world need high quality?
Most durum is a 3 or better...lentils a 2 or better etc etc
11. does the world need volume?
Apparently not and the world is still starving
12. Are there still starving people in Yemen and africa?
13. What happened to our ownership of developing new varieties thru our check offs,,excess freight bill and taxes????
