This frustrates me to no end because I think it's going to be rammed down our throats no matter what.

I'm not saying attending meetings and voicing opinions is futile but I have a bad feeling for this.

Maybe some "less civil" action would make a bigger difference.

I'm with you farma, unless we get a few minutes of media to get some attention its going to be difficult to alter this. It will quietly be passed.
We need to make some noise!
There is less and less grassroot producers left in the industry and I feel our voice is getting quieter every year, We are foolish to think these changes will benefit us, how many of the past changes have turned out to benefit us?
The guys in ties are NOT our friends,, Why would we allow this to happen? One of the biggest problems facing our industry is the cost of production, if you think this is going to help reduce our cost of production your denying history.
We have already lost control of most of our freedoms in this country, this is why our forefathers left the old countries and moved here, I for one want less regulation.
Who here agrees with the price of inputs ?
What is total farm debt at now? $100 billion? this is after a hundred years of farming? What other industry would last this long accumulating more debt every year and burdening the next generation?
We are our own worst enemy for allowing this to continue. If this cycle is ever going to stop it will have to be stopped by us.

Yes it's too late to sign up Goodrum but just show up anyway - they'll let you in I'm told. They don't have much choice not too - as you can turn around and tell the media that you are being denied access to a public meeting that is supposed to be a consultation with farmers and that would become the big story.

I truly believe this site is heavily monitored by every facet of the Canadian Ag Industry. Opinions are freely given, just read and heed. I just wish more of the silent majority would speak up so there could be an even more accurate account of opinion.

WCWGA announced they are in favour of royalties....but they were the same guys whispering in g Yerry's ear for what they thought was an open market....except they forgot to add transparency to the whole scheme...

Then they nominated Yerry to the ag hall of fame ...

As much as they may be progressive farmers.....I don't think I will fall for their line this time...

Look the world isn't buying quality nor are they buying big volumes of Canadian wheat.

Durum has a base grade of 3cwad...A 1cwad is just used to blend a 5cwad to a 3...

What farmers need is an indexed price per bushel for their grain...

Wheat was 6 bucks in the 70s for **** sakes and you could buy a lot more...

Going after volume won't solve anyone's problems....

And if someone says something about the staving world ...YUP...it is.. Yemen is a perfect example....and no one has the balls to fix it anyway...and it will continue to starve with nonsense like this...


A select few want to have a seed tax...and while WCWGA farmers get upset about the carbon tax ...they happily support a seed tax....Oh except the WCWGA have SECAN corteva and others as sponsors....their opinion is biased...

I think the WCWGA fits in that assessment....but since they have a bias to the seed trade on this they shouldn't be represented at the up coming meeting....they have been lobbying the government on behalf of the CSTA...now its actual farmers turn to represent their views...not more of the CSTA thru the backdoor of so called farmer organization like the WCWGA...

I for one am getting sick and tired of idiots on these boards that know jack shit about farming. They believe they're making money and that's ok for everyone to take a chunk out of there money.

But when the shit hits the fan these same parasites will get their money and the farmers will be told to sell shit and streamline to keep the game going.

it happened in the 80s and 90s and guess what it will again.

Keep giving and finally, you have nothing left.

The new seed varieties are good but guess what they are from ND varieties and companies really created shit all.

But they will get paid for seed till your dead in the ground. All in name of higher yields and cut out varieties that they feel don't cut it.

Its a game and farmers are not winning.

Years ago there was always a stand out wheat variety that would be the popular variety for a few years then another would come along...

In 25 years I think I have changed wheat 5 times....sometimes because of weather , other times because of the way I cleaned it and got contaminated....or just because...

What about developing our own seeds? Where would this even start? A old patent free variety and go from there? How wrapped up in red tape is this industry already is there room for new competition? Our industry requires fewer to be on the land but I have some top notch intelligent kids who will need to make a living and I would rather them not be sucked into these parasites clutches. Thinking outside the box but wouldn't it be nice to see !

Had a convo with some non farmers and they just laughed when it was said seed companies were losing money in the system we have. They felt gov't could get out and seed companies would still be making profit. Lets see financials.

See who sits on boards and follow the trail.

See who tells which varieties are good and which have to go.

Again follow the money.
