As I've said before the Government of Canada does not import oil, independent businesses within it do. If the Saudis started exporting fertiliser that was going to land in Canada cheaper than the sources we have now how many of you would be buying it?

There is no way in hell that the refiners down east would pay $40 US a barrel more just to have Saudi oil if there were pipelines bringing oil from Western Canada. What corp would do that? The left-wing lunatics have vowed to destroy our oil industry, and they will destroy the west and the Canadian economy in the process.

My understanding is that western crude is inferior quality and requires much higher processing which is more cost but what is that cost? We are getting what the market wants to pay for it or are we not?

I do think we should be using it even if it is slightly higher cost though creates more jobs here.

As for exporting if we re all going to have to pay more domestically like we are now to keep exports going what's the point of that formua that are paying?

Point is there isn't a pipeline option currently so they buy where they can, at the lowest cost.

Yes, you get what the market wants to pay for your grain - it might not be what you as a farmer wants to be paid for it though. Same with the oil - they get what the market wants to pay
