How about build a refinery here take in that cheap crude sell the finished product at the world price more of the real money stays here.
And a refinery ain't like durum.
Gas oil and diesel have markets anywhere.

Then yes truck or rail it east. Won't be much more fuel used than ocean liners and trucking it in from the coast port. Maybe less.

You see CO-OP trucks all the way up to Peace country. Pretty sure they come out of Regina.

Perhaps or more likely out of the big tank farm coop built west of carseland the fuel comes by rail to there.the new sturgeon refinery is open and scaling up production.The demand for diesel is going to be very high in the coming years with the new maritime fuel mandates.

But that fuel originated in Regina at Federated Co-op's heavy oil upgrader and refinery complex that was built during the Devine years of government ....taxpayers money.....the return on that is very high gas and diesel prices by federated buying very cheap WCS oil.

The Coop in Saskatchewan pulls out of Regina FCL and Husky in Lloydminster.

I don't understand how it is not feasible to build upgraders when oil is up in price yet they don't get built when oil is down even tho end product seems to be fairly stable. Same applies to the illusive pasta plant that was announced under the Marketing Freedom Act.

They did out west. It’s called upgraders. In the east - most were configured to take lighter foreign slates. Shell was giving this serious thought back 5 years ago, but figured the regulatory situation in Canada wasn’t worth it. EE only became a possibility after US gas shale

Canada has become known as "the place where you can't get anything done"
farming , oilpatch , no difference , again why is the west putting up with this ?
wait until Quebec finds out they have to pay transfer payments , will happen sooner than later . formula will get changed real quick

Agree with most but there is a lack of leadership out west also. gth money could have been spent on a lot better ideas
