Boys its really the cost of everything is out of control in the USA farming sector. We think rents and costs are idiotic well south of us were not even in the same ballpark city.

Yes on Equipment if a Deere Tractor is 1/2 mill its 3/4 in Canada.

The shit show will hit here and it does not trump its Were getting beat at our own game. China South America and Russia are new leaders were finished. Watch companies will try to move shit there and leave us to hang.

Exactly right! Cost of everything is out of control. Can’t continue without some conscious decisions by responsible business men. The oil industry doesn’t pump oil if there isn’t a marginal return at the time of the deal so why do farmers continue to make irresponsible decisions then expect help when things go for shit. Said it before and will continue to say it, we do it to ourselves and continue to get on the treadmill to keep the system alive. Stop for one year and just watch the parasites die without our infusion of cash to the economy.

And just how do you stop trying to grow a crop if you have modest equipment payments and a land mortgage. Not everyone has over extended themselves. Every year I buy inputs and try to grow a crop to cover all my expenses. Key ****en word in "TRY". Mother Nature has the final say.

Everyone knows farmers have a unique situation....pay what's demanded or go without and, to a degree, take whats offered for their produce or keep it. What a ****en strange business model.

My fertilizer cost for the 2019 crop will be about 25% higher than 2018...why? Because they can? That excuse is getting old, I mean has gotten old. Industry consolidation? Lack of real competition?

I fully agree that if Producers took a year off a good part of this Industry would be brought to it's ****en knees. Watch the belts adjust...instead of punching another whole towards the end of the belt to help keep those fat ****er's pants up....they may have to punch a new hole closer to the buckle end...cinche er up good and tight ladies and gentlemen, time for the rest of the Industry to feel hungry and get lean.

Agreed about the parasites but farmers cant afford to stop for a year or else their operation collapses first. “They” say farmers have to borrow money to keep farming. So its a staring contest between the parasite and the host.

There is no money in organic. Erosion, weeds and custom grain cleaners. You will farm until you dont even have enough seed for planting.

We have done it to ourselves by trying to keep up with the neighbors. Nobody holds a gun to your head to lease equipment at outrageous costs but once u get into that business model u are on the treadmill til u go bankrupt or retire. No different than out bidding the neighbor on rent or land auctions. Some buy or rent because it is a wise decision at the time but more often than not lately it has to do with GREED! That in turn just snowballs into more bad decisions and pretty soon they own you. Just look at the BTOs in your area. They have forced themselves into production because they are cash poor and payment rich.

Its hard to decide what financial position they are in. My larger farming neighbors grow super crops. They must be making profits or else they would have shut down by now. Consider all the farmland they have bought as net worth. They are increasing wealth exponentially compared to their neighbors.

Seriously, I have 4 large volume, high input, high eiffciency farm neighbors that are extremely productive. If they are not making money, nobody is making money. They rent a lot of land but they also have bought a lot of land. Even if they ceased operations today, they would have multi millions in net worth with just farmland. This is not counting US winter houses, 5% of the houses in local towns and villages for the employees, summer lake cabins, second farms in different RMs, cows leased out and probably a respectable lump of cash.

The biggest downfall if these guys stopped their farming is local unemployment. There would be about 100 guys trying to make house, groceries, quad, boat, snowmobile, and booze payments from a pogey cheque.
