Talked with a good friend yesterday who is in the lentil trade, he said these prices will not last. Once farmers start to sell product in the new year, prices will retreat lower once again. India “possibly†has a moisture shortage, but time will tell how serious it really is. They are buying a small amount to cover themselves. They have lots in storage.
A weather situation is our only hope for a return to better prices. But, seems like we get the weather problems.
These prices should get farmers thinking of more lentils for 19, not that they weren’t already.
