I think you are wrong to speculate that the riots in France are anything to do with a UN agenda or carbon tax increases. It's a way of life in France - check their history and you'll see there has been a riot a year over the last decade with different causes every time. They used to regularly set fire to trucks hauling British lamb through Calais any time there was a downturn in French sheep prices.
These riots or acts of mass disobedience are a feature of most countries - Britain had many as has the US often with a racial catalyst but there is a whole segment of the population just waiting for the chance to loot, set fire to stuff and attack authority. This will pass in France as it has done before - and i'm pretty sure it's not going to spread to the prairies where the activists are too busy trying out new cocktail recipes or in the lineup at Disneyland.

Seems like the underlying issue in France is low wages, incomes and inequality. Personal taxation is a trigger issue. The cost of living in France is high. Protesting is a strong part of the cultural fabric of France.

There are still a lot of well paid people in Western Canada in the resource sector. Commodity prices are cyclical. Layoffs always happen during periods of low prices. The old timers in the oil patch and mining sectors know this and prepare for it. People overspend during the good times forgetting that they need to save for the downturn.

You can support workers in downturns with good social programs. Social programs like EI and retraining cost money so you still need to pay your taxes.

Many generations have seen once thriving industries recede to be replaced with other jobs. But automation and artificial intelligence may replace a lot of workers.

Corporations still seem to make a lot of profit. Are they paying their fair share of taxes on profits? Or are they hiding their profits in offshore tax havens to avoid taxation?

JT and Butts should know absolutely everything you need to know about offshore tax havens . Or better yet the grandfather of overshore tax havens that Paul Martin guy lol . They could probably give you a list of corporate entities. They all hang out together so should be easy for a liberal insider like yourself to get a list , no ?
