    Flax....prices

    From Stats Canada...

2018 production is only 66% of the three Western Province's 5 year average.

...but in 2018 we are only 12% lower than 2017 production.

Manitoba...has basically quit growing it, it wouldn't have produced enough to fill a cargo ship, they only produced 24,700 tonnes. (why **** with flax when soybeans are a good alternative/option)

Has the European market ever fully recovered from the Triffid fiasco?

$12.50 local terminal bids, some special crops buyers $13+. And then there wss yellow flax, a meager "premium" over brown.

Seems nobody wants the hassle anymore.

Hopefully the Arrest doesn’t screw up Flax demand from China

I still grow it pretty faithfully but have had problems with it too. Emergence issues sometimes, solo residual and the straw, always the straw is a pain. Had cleavers in one year that were a big problem. Black sea region seems to be filly the production we used to grow but nice money and no seed costs. A 30 bu flax crop can net as much as canola.

Well you could be paying a royalty on yellow flax and reconstituted flax...that should help your returns.....

Pretty much guaranteed it will...and western Canadian farmers will be the collateral damage to Trudeau's stupidity...

as Bucket mentioned in another thread, the triffid issue cost us our flax market forever. FSU owns it now. Thank you seed producers of canada.
