    Dept. Highway

So after some public pressure the gov jumps to do something about the corner of 35 with 335. One recommendation was to paint stop on the highway at the intersection. Because of the tall trees on the south side of 335 the intersection is always in the shade and is always wet with snow and salt. What good will it do to paint on wet sloppy highway?
Where they painted is so close to the intersection a truck would nerve be able to stop even if he did see the paint.
    Government just screws up everything!

Maybe people should just obey the sign and lights that are already there! Just a thought

It was said on the news that removal of the trees would happen. Trees, corn and other obstacles should not be allowed to be within 100 feet of an intersection in a rural area.

Wish the media and other people would keep quiet about this intersection till the driver is done with court.
All this talk is giving the defense more info on how to deem the intersection as unsafe and that dip shit will get off..

Maybe it doesn't sound like it but I was just trying to make a point about a government run dept. that does the stupidest things. They get criticized for doing nothing so they run out and paint a highway that is covered with salt snow and slop. You can't even see the paint 3 days later.

There was 7 different signs on that highway indicating intersection ahead and even had flashing lights at the stop sign.
Nothing would of stopped that guy.....what he was doing and were his eyelids open are the question.

Seldomseen, they probably hired line painters from Edmonton like they did the overpasses. Guess we don’t have any good enough here. Info received at a Xmas party this weekend.

I’ve been long hauling this winter through the central Plains states. In South Dakota at a few intersections there were signs in all directions that lit up and flashed when there was cross traffic coming. The intersections were like the 35 and 335 where traffic from E/W or N/S were stopping and the opposite direction was straight through. I think it would be a better solution than just alerting the direction of traffic that is stopping.

I m sure the honest and fair defence lawyers already have every scam there is to try get this loser off.

The victims families will want to see some punishment some more Than others, they all Know the verdict won't bring their loved ones back. So some of them will want more for their loss to mean an improvement to all drivers to all roads so others don't suffer as they have so that maybe these terrible losses will save someone else's life.

The driver was 1,000 percent wrong period stop sign you stop that's it. But why didn't he stop? Obviously from what was heard on many other cases there has been a situation where governments have been acting irresponsibly in insuring semi drivers are ready for the road. Perhaps they should be charged as well in my mind. Who thinks someone from some foreign country that doesn't know our laws our road signs hasn't driven a semi should get a license so easily without being qualified???? All of a sudden now governments realize you need a minimum number of hours? And what about the people testing, you can drive train for a 1000 hours if the person isn't honest about how many of the 1,000 hours you actually drive or doesn't know what they are doing what does rhat law mean?
In Alberta it was found people giving licenses were corrupt. Some people are going to need a lot more than those set hours to know how to drive.

How in the world did this driver get his licence? Driver license exams written and driven Should
                        Be much more difficult.

The reason the trees need to go is not for the semi driver because it is already shown he either didn't care, didn't know how short of distance his truck could stop, didn't know the signs the laws, etc etc. The trees need to go to give the innocent ones respecting the law a few more seconds chance to respond to
Someone that shouldn't be driving that is.
That is the point. It was shown the bus driver only had 1.5 or something like that seconds to react. If he had 5 seconds could he have swerved taken the ditch to miss the semi those people all
Could be alive. Imagine your family on the road don't you want a chance to save yourself from some loser at fault. Doesn't those lives and potentially your own mean more to you than a *** set of trees?

Well I guess stop signs aren't a universal shape. Where was this guy from? Some stop signs in the above image resemble our yeild signs but none the less....

What a shame those trees on that particular stretch are still standing, but there are trees close to intersections on lots of highways- both here and the US. Whether it is practical to demolish all trees within 40 - 60- 80 meters of each corner I don’t know. In areas along the east coast of US, it is solid 100 foot high trees but fenced interstates minimize risk in populated ares. In Ireland, trees are right up to your mirrors in the countryside and very little visual field. Sheep and goats are running free, must be a lot of accidents because the speed limits are not reduced at all - mostly 100 klicks.
