HaHa Yes we are selfish! The industry takes most of the money and we take all the risk.

I have always thought the industry leaves just enough money so farmer will keep going. If the industry takes it all and farmers leave then they would be left with the risk.

I have said this for years. It is bang on. The powers that be step off your throat just enough every year to let you breath for another year. People say the grain companies want the land to take over the industry, lol , they dont want anything to do with the actual farming just the no risk sales.

Let me add my name to those in favor of not overproducing by 5% or 10%. That only drags the other 90% into the category that can't pay the expenses AND make a profit to make the whole enterprise worth continuing.

Some people can apparently show no shame for attempting to speak on behalf of the majority who would never voluntarily support the words being spoken "on their behalf".

We must let our policy makers and political leaders know that is NOT the sentiment of farmers who are here for the long term and have another generation entering the business.

Better go easy boys or VVALK will jump all over you for taking a run at the Wheat growers.

Im gonna have a little fun and illustrate an example of what happens when these farm groups meet with politicians as seen from the side of the politician and their assistant. For this example I'll use the federal ag minister.
Assistant- good morning Minister MacAuly how are you this morning?
Minister- very well thank you and how are you?
              Assistant- good sir
Minister - well what have we on the go this morning?
Assistant- well sir if you recall my email from yesterday we have a couple farm groups scheduled for meetings with you before lunch
Minister- Okay, do you have all my necessary info ready and who's first?
Assistant- Everything is ready sir and its the Western Canadian wheat Growers Association.
Minister- well we better get going you can brief my on the walk to the meeting
Assistant- of course sir. well if you recall they are a group of farmers who meet with ag policy makers to try and influence policy to benefit the producer.
Minister- Don't they know that the industry doesn't care what the farmer thinks. Besides its wheat growing season isn't it and I thought you said they are farmers so why are they here to meet with me now?
Assistant- well sir most of them are here cause they left the rest of their family at home to work so they could come on an all expense paid trip and see parliament hill in the summer
Minister- I see........ well what do they want?
Assistant- I'm not sure this time.
Minister - Well did we arrange for a free tour of the library and some football tickets for these guys?
Assistant- Yes sir its all taken care of and I took the liberty of ensuring they get a catered lunch as well
Minister- excellent they won't be expecting that
Assistant- well here we are sir
Minister- great have them bring some fresh pastries and fresh coffee
1.5 hours later meeting adjourned and some discussion while walking to next meeting
Assistant- great job sir they seemed very happy with how receptive you were about their concerns
Minister- Thanks........ Well that was a productive meeting....... too bad there's no way in hell what their asking is ever gonna happen. Naive bunch but they mean well. Oh well they will enjoy the tour and game anyway. So who's next?
              Assistant- APAS sir
              Minister-Who the hell is APAS
Assistant- Agricultural Producers association of Sask sir
Minister- Well what do these guys want? Didn't we just meet with a bunch of farmers from there?
Assistant- Well sir kind of...... but these guys are a different group, wanting different things, that represent the same people.
Minister- WHAT!!!! That makes no sense!! I thought we just got our to do list from the dope growers or what ever they call themselves?
Assistant- Actually sir its the Wheat growers not the dope growers
Minister- WHATEVER, you know who I meant! Only good thing about these meetings is at least these guys are all asking for different shit from supposedly the same group so that gives us an out. God I hope they don't ever get their shit together out there or we are in trouble!
              Assistant- Exactly sir
Minister- Did we get these guys some redblacks tickets and a nice tour or something too? Oh and a get them tickets to a nice steakhouse with some free drinks to. We'll send these boys home with the gout and a hangover hahahaha
Assistant- I'll get right on it sir. Well here we are sir.
Minister- Lets get this over with I got a tee time with the P.E.I. potato farmers association President at 1:00

This organization is no different than the rest of the farm groups. They meet with politicians and pass on their opinion about policy and the boys in the suits smile and nod and say thanks for coming we will seed what we can do.

https://wheatgrowers.ca/our-sponsors This explains why the Western Canadian Wheat Growers are nothing more than a bunch of knob-gobbling Industry lapdogs

I'd rather be seen as an adversarial questioner than be associated with this group. Bucket calls it as he sees it without any sugar coating, unlike the of a bunch of Industry yes-men.
