.....or the WCWG past president who was so ****ing proud to sign the token first open market durum contract but likely didn't realize there were no checks and balances put in place to protect her. What a bunch of gullible saps.

If bucket was negotiating we may not have got an open market as soon but at least it may have been more balanced and accountable.

**** me, there was no negotiating....the sponsors on that list must have been laughing their head off.

Or the guy who rents out his farm and still wants to represent farmers, for ****'s sake you stepped back and took most of your skin ouf of the game! Seed tax will really hurt you, eh?
Maybe he will lower his rent by $30/ ac so the renter can afford the royalties??
Point is where is all this money going to come from ... thin air ???
I get it , either higher seed costs or royalties are coming regardless..... I just hope it does not bury the farmer in too much expense like we are seeing in other crops .
It’s time for the industry to stand up for farmers as well and demand higher returns for primary producers before we , the ones paying all the bills , are all forced out of business because everyone else in the industry thinks they need more money.
This needs to work both ways .

        Such kind words...

My idea was to offer the CWB to the farmers of western canada as a IPO....buy shares...It wouldn't mean you would have to deliver there if they were not in the area but you could be part of a new grainco....

Then with their new builds of elevators and the port facility ..I think we would have had real competition...

My delusion was in the fact I thought Yerry and friends had the transparency and accountability shit worked out since its mandatory in the states ....

Look ....the open market was supposed to bring in competition,,,,I don't see it and the companies I will sell to is a shorter list now than 5 years ago....

Someone will eventually get a government grant to study the "open market transition in Canada" and its failures...

And then we go back to creating another SWP....because history repeats itself...

I also mentioned to my MP that canadian grain should have been traded on the Canadian exchanges....his reply was then use them....I told him the graincos were not using them and they were not liquid enough to bother with....he didn't understand...

But that sums up the problem ...the people lobbying don't understand shit....they want mandatory taxes to help their cause...

Here is an analogy...we are all forced to pay a tire tax ...that is supposed to go to recycling tires....but when shit hits the fan...the taxpayers thats already paid the tire tax is also on the hook for the clean up in Assinibioa ....3.3 million

the seed tax won't end at a buck a tonne...

In a bizarre world you would think guys wouldn't keep buying into feeding the world nonsense....but they hook the next generation by the nobility of it all....

Look the world has been starving for as long as I can remember and I fell for the feeding the world crap....even enjoyed listening to the song once in awhile....but here's the take away from the nonsense ....non of those people are making an effort to feed the world anymore .....farmers in western Canada are....

Trudeau hands out billions to help the worlds less fortunate ...money for nothing...another good song.....you guys see the connection.....and sacrifices western canadian farmers in the process....

This ****ing dummy running Canada would probably send help/money to Argentina and other south american countries to help clear the land ....not seeing the the end result....other than hating western canada even more..

Any support of a seed tax only shows how ignorant people are of the end result....

The reason people defending the seed tax shouldn't have been there is because they have been lobbying for this for a decade as was said....they have had their turn with the government....

Now its farmers turn to say NO....and I think there is a majority here to say its unwanted...
Feeding the world. What a crock. Much much more accurate to say feeding the system. I was at a small meeting years ago organized by our elevator manager. At this meeting a young fellow, looked fresh out of university, was trying to impress upon us all that we had to grow more grain to feed the world. I forget what company he represented but it doesn't matter. I was getting more pissed as I listened as I had heard the same b.s. over and over for years. At the end of his lengthy presentation he opened the floor for discussion. I put my hand up and politely told him that if his company was truly interested in saving the world from starvation he should be teaching birth control. It was worth the afternoon just to see the look on his face. I went on to explain how many times I had heard the same sales pitch because that's all it is. A sales pitch. If you farm and you get up every day and go to work for the sole purpose of feeding the world, good for you,but it's a delusion.

Now the above comment hits the nail on the head.

            Feed the System.

            Yes, that's what we do.

Maybe we can research reducing supply because there sure isn’t any profit in over supplying any market, worse yet when you can’t move the product to export position. Taxes and more taxes are wasted on pipe dreams now, why stop the insanity?

That smile will be wiped off his face when the money runs out or he has three crop failures in a row. I was positive a long time ago before I got old and realized it’s all bullshit.

Back then you actually made money slowly but you made money.

                    Now every one else does.
                    Keep smiling.

The WCWGA's motto used to be "seeking market driven solutions". How in hell are trailing royalties distorted into "market based"? They used to argue that their property rights were violated by compulsory pooling through the CWB yet now support compulsory end point royalties. I think if the NFU had come out in favour of end point royalties the Wheat Growers would have opposed them.

She gave up on pasta plant. Now getting paid to speak at events.
Oh and former wheat growers chair is running for provincial politics.
Guess this group is a training ground for those with higher aspirations. No wonder they don't care about actual career farmers. They all claim to be farmers but their always off globe trotting and networking to get the next big gig while the real farmers in their families stay home and work the farm.
