    USD Fx.......

    1.36%, 12/24/18...........Nuts!!!!

What a huge disadvantage trying to buy anything American.
Canada doesn't have everything so sometimes we're stuck buying stuff from them.
Not that I don't want to.... its just so lopsided right now.

If you don't have a USD account full of cash, does it affect you're decision to travel there?

People have money to travel! Every plane to vegas is right full. Same with palm springs etc etc etc.

Farma, the lower or worse the exchange the more travel you can do 😀 good times ahead.

Unfortunately the only way Canada can be competitive with any country is to lower the dollar exchange,
We will visit .61 ( more or less). Everyone is right sooner or later

2019 may not treat the U.S. dollar too kindly. Stranger things have happened . . . .

I don’t do much travelling so a low $$$$ doesn’t affect me. Yes, there are draw backs, buying power is reduced, but couldn’t imagine how far worse our commodity prices would be with a higher $? Prices now are in the toilet as it is.

You're likely right Thomas, so I have to suck it up for the little bit of stuff I want to import, the weak buck is helping support our competitiveness in the grain markets.

I guess what also drives me nuts is the PST & GST on those inflated exchange prices.

Ok if I buy a 66 of vodka for 19.00 in Tampa. Add exchange that’s 25.96 or more than half the Canadian price.

Gas at 1.89 to 2.05. Gal or $2.80 can a gal divided by 3.785 is .74 cents a litre Canadian.

                  Food is way cheaper.

                  Lodging similar.

So travel isn’t really going to be effected.

Plus most Americans are very happy campers.

                  Canadians ?

Who goes travelling to save money? That’s what money is for - spending on marginal utility. But since we are talking about how cheap it is to travel, goota say we found travelling in Europe much more expensive than travelling in US, except for cheap airlines like aer Lingus. Hotels, toll roads ( some around 19 Euro), high fuel prices, food was plus cher in London and Paris. Guess if you just stay home and feed the chickens, you can stack up the coin. And that’s what we are going to do, after Xmas, we can stay home, clean out my office, play Mario Brothers and shovel the driveway while everyone else goes to the southern playland. 👍 Happy New Year all. Days are getting longer and there is relative peace in the kingdom 👆

Yes, but are Americans happy lodgers. Campers?, I probably agree that that part of travel can be inexpensive. Walmart doesn't have that many five star parking lots!

Your number one item on the list is a vice. Perhaps the US government has it figured out that after the initial getting loaded period of happiness, you don't create too much trouble for the government, sleeping it off.

Personally think travel is a vice, and should have the shit taxed to it, but whatever turns your crank.

                      Happy trails!!!

IF the dollar was at par imagine what you would be getting for commodities: it's invisible inflation, and a better balance of trade it is not likely to be the gift of 2019.
