I also really like the strategically placed finger in the previous photo, adds a real air of professionalism...

Fortunately, the camera in my phone quit working for most of the growing season, so I didn't get many pictures of drought, smoke, snow, frozen flat crops or broken combines to share.

quick edit give you a example a 345 acre field of wheat long passes in a given pass yield went from 3.1t ha to 0.0 i honestly dont think ive ever seen such variance and sadly the 0.0 was on the "best" ground but plenty and I mean plenty had zero harvest with 40kms of me.

and pps the above mentioned field average 1.3 t ha was one of my better ones

Mallee, besides creepy, what I find amusing about the picture is the tags on two of the three girl's shirts. One says bitter and the other sweet. Ironically the shortest girls tag is blocked by the meme's word "guess"!

Grew a excellent crop here and it all made it to the bins safe and sound. Ample inputs like anhydrous, fungicides and yes even the evil herbicide roundup paid huge dividends this year. Harvest was a struggle for late seeders and farmers without adequate air bins or dryers. There is some crop out in this area. Looking forward to 2019 the future is very bright and profitable for Ag in Canada!! Although farmers today need to be very diligent with our purchases. Watch out for snake oil products and make sure new feel good practices make money and don't break the farm.

18 was a disappointment for the 3rd year in a row in this immediate area and on this farm with below average yield again. Dryness from mid June to mid July being the main culprit but it sure could rain at harvest with record Sept. snow and harvest is not finished this year again. The surprise was that HRS still grades a tough 3 with 14% protein after some 20 inches of snowfall. With all the rain and snow this fall, reserve moisture levels are good here for '19. Just a few miles north, crops were fairly good overall as that area got some good showers during the dry spell here. Some crops did not quite mature due to the smoke and hazy weather at the end of august and early September which is generating reports of a fair bit of green seed issues at elevators. 4-6 green is common but reports of 20% or more is out there as well.
