You may not be happy with the current Government over some relatively minor issues but this is still one of the safest and most secure places in the world to own property. South America, Africa, former Soviet Union areas not so much...

      Couple things about land.

      - We don't have anywhere the property rights that US citizens have.
      - there are native claims swirling around and the issues of consent and access and use of land could swing against us with a few activist judges and left wing legislation.
      - lastly, the left are throwing around basic income and right to shelter legislation and pharmacare. These can only be funded off property taxes and capital gains. I totally expect property taxes to rise and capital gains exemptions on both land and homes to be in line to support this.

which would also be taken from you in a heartbeat , unless you have a standing army

look at the videos of once normal people in Venezuela clubbing and killing live cattle to eat

You absolutely right , we have been .
But look at policy going forward...... and think about the direction we are headed , not where we are today or were before.
Let me know if it is still a minor issue if this land division happens..... specifically your land ...... that’s not really yours .
Just something to think about . It’s all there in the UN policies this government is pursuing, I am just pointing it out .

The first people to suffer in such a scenario would be city dwellers with no resources. Those people will immediately get in line at the govt offices to protest. But govt wouldn't be functional anymore and it would take them a while to figure it out. City looting would be next followed by gangs that control whats left. Food and fuel would become scarce. Going to take them a while to walk out of the city and find my bins.

Socialist don't confiscate land. That would do them no good. They want you to keep it and keep working it so they can tax your production.

Interesting thought, are current personal transactions to purchase "substantial" amounts of gold "recorded and registered"?

                Burnt, excellent post!

How many cultures were persecuted, annihilated, taken over, for various reasons throughout history? Exiled, exterminated, genocide, quietly assimilated, taken by force, slowly watered down....

You are giving these socialists a lot more credit than they deserve, if you think they have enough logic, foresight , and financial wherewithal to come to such a rational conclusion. And if history is any guide, they will make the same mistake over and over again.

I think every gold bar over 250 g is still stamped with a serial number and recorded, used to be smaller than that had them

                      Bullion coins.

                      Canada has the Maple Leaf.

They are treated as pure gold.... But not traceable and in small chunks.

In Argentina the right to own land (personal property) is constitutionally enshrined and has never been enroached.

Instead, they nationalize corporations (farm's don't incorporate), and tax the grain directly "withholdings".

So the grain in your bin doesn't mean much when the craziest come in.

I fear we are headed for something like that. All the early 20th century warning signs in Argentina are now here.

Looks like we're all going down..fast.

Klause you work hard and your smart but what's going to do you in is your hard core dooms day mentality. If you think it's that bad here you could always go to Argentina, that's where you seem to want to be anyway. Nothing against you really but not much positive here.

I know we can’t be like a bunch of dodo birds plodding along like nothing’s wrong while the people slowly bonk us all on the heads but dwelling in end times not only adds to health problems but also exposes you to being swayed by religious cults like JW’s and non religious cults like radical environmentalism. It all goes hand in hand. It’s okay to get your ship in order I see that but the JW’s predicted the world would end countless times and members would sell all they owned to get ready but nothing happened. I know of religious people around here hoarding silver and burying it. If shit hits the fan we’re buggered anyway. When the starving mobs or govt expropriation comes to your door you simply don’t have enough bullets or means to fight them off. Take a page out of what Stalin did or even in South Africa, all you can hope is to flee the country with your life.
