    100 Years

As I was setting across from the iga parking lot I got to thinking about 100 yr ago that is where people used to park thier horses and wagons as they went shopping. That made me think I wonder how many would have invisioned this,so my question is what do you see might look like in another 100 yrs.
Everyone has an opinion about climate change and the enviroment so I am expecting some interesting points of view. This is what old farts do on the new yr,happy new yr and hope change dosent catch you sleeping.

If any of the past prognostications are any indication, then whatever we forecast will almost certainly be wrong.

My grandpa passed away in June of 1998. He came down in May to watch us seeding with an air drill. He was so amazed how the fert and seed got from the tank to the drill to the ground with a fan, he was basically speechless. For him to look back to how he started out to see what we were doing he just shook his head.
It was all in the plans for him to come to the farm for the last time and see the big change and pass away a month later. I had a tear in my eye when he just stood back and watched this machine coming towards him, knowing this was going to be something never seen before.
To have him pass away a month later knowing he seen something like that brought several tears.
Now we are seeing so many advances, and to say “that will never happen” is something we better think about twice. One thing we are certain of it won’t come at a cheap cost.

We've been driving past SeedMaster's Autonomous seeder test site this fall and winter.

        Huge medical advancements have come.

Huge military advancements...who knows what they're developing as we speak.

        "Communication" advancements(irony).

Do you think SF3 will be seeding his crop from Florida in 5 years? Many of the farm advancements came from farmers’ shops in the long cold winters, maybe now not so much.

Maybe we should be either hiring gamers to run remote machinery or learn that skill ourselves....

Farming simulator 19 is a dud and it’s not farming.

I see advancements coming in spraying with the autonomous sprayer.

Seeding in canada not for a while on big scale.

Harvesting is the most fun so no will still need drivers.

              On board managers maybe.

I traveled with my parents down to Florida to see family in 1966 some 50 years ago. No Disney just a dream.

              Oranges were picked by hand.

Lots of changes still lots the same.

Middle man makes farmer gets the pennies for all the work.

Since 1981 I think farming has really changed.

Direct seeding was a huge advancement with air drills.

Sad if canada cant get their shit together I do see bc by them selves and Alberta sask and man as USA and Quebec separate country with Ontario and the others trying to keep canada going.

Trudeau sowed the seed of division and allowed special interest groups huge power that will be the biggest damage to our once great country That can’t be put back in the box.

Sad but the USA might be best place to be.

Civil unrest could be next for canada.

Maybe we don’t want to look 100 years out.

What will Canada's social structure and it's citizen's private wealth look like in 100 years from now?

This country has barely made it through puberty, hell maybe only coming out of infancy into the toddler stage in comparison to the age of other nations in older "civilzed" areas of the world.

At least our forefathers brought with them a semblence of were they came from, kinda scary thinking about where some of the new immigrants came from and what morals and beliefs they brought with them. Racist comment I guess.

Every country has a civil war.....or so it seems....Has canada had civil war amongst its borders?????

Trudeau is working hard on making that happen.....and letting in all the irregulars will hasten that...

                    He’s dividing canada

Argue with new Canadians who live in BC or Ontario about politics and soon you will realize our country has huge problem.

They only care about there area and that’s it not in my backyard. It’s not country building it’s country destroying.

                    Thank a trudeau

Grocery shopping and cooking has been replaced with taking a couple nutrition pills completely replacing food production making farming obsolete.

Livery Stable... when my mom/dad went to school...there was a school barn with stalls for winter.. Pasture for horses when grass available. Till school 'bus' did pickups in more prosperous farm areas 20's/30's Many Model A's used... Now Internet can change most things... take a pic of cheque... deposit without going to bank... Direct deposit... E-transfer... Purolator to door...

Sorry to tell you guys, but I have Canadas next 100 yr forecast right here and it is an era of stagnation and much higher costs of living. And it has nothing to do with tech. We will have lots of tech. But we will have no young people to drive the country.

Canada is getting massively older, AB and Sk not so bad but the rest, its game over. Even with immigration those places are aging out. As Peter Zehein puts its, the average age of new immigrants coming to Canada is 10-15 yrs older than the US. And as soon as new immigrants get here, they stop having kids too. We should have been directly paying women to have a 3rd kid for the past 20 yrs and now here we are.

And the young people who are fired up often move to the US to pursue their dream. We are left with socialists looking for a govt job or handout.

I have doubts that the old world makes it another hundred years. If it does, the most significant thing will be that peoplekind will all have an implant in their forearm behind the wrist, without which, commerce will be impossible.

Regarding what happens with grain farming, I could care bloody less.

massive change last 30 or so years.

but personally better equipment and quite affordable in early 90s changes to combines and sprayers and better chems fert etc. Really wish things stayed in that late 80s early 90s zone.

we had production increases around then as well but platued since unlike the price of steel.

my 120k morris seeder for example is it really that much worse than new fandangled ones but admit part getting harder to source.

i see our area swinging back to livestock/mixed farming almost back to what it was 100 years ago trouble is younger generation hate stock work prefer arse planted on a tractor seat
