This post reminds me back in the early 90s just after the oka crisis and Quebec referendum. Some lawyer worked out that if Quebec can separate so can native bands in the province. That was a perfect time for them to have their own referendum and fight to create their own country like they all want. Well it took all of three seconds for them to beg the rest of Canada to take them if quebec separates. Guess we aren't so bad after all.

      LOL!!!! Your comment.

This debate can't be won. The Native North Americans didn't receive the best treatment but they sure as hell never received the worst in history either....not that either of those situations justifies anything.

Kinda hard to get ahead being suppressed on a Ghetto(Reserve). Assimilation would have been better but there were two polar cultures though. Industrious Europeans and a more primitive hunting and gathering culture(not that there was anything wrong with that)...go ahead...flame away.

But it's time to look ahead and it's how we move forward that will yeild better results than dwelling and staying mired in the past.

I don't speak my Grandfather's language anymore either! Of course there are afew customs that "linger" but times have changed and so have I. I don't pine for the past, I have it many many times better than my forefathers. But to compare pre and post European settlement conditions on Native North Americans and which time was better is....a matter of "opinion"!

What a bunch of self-righteous hypocrisy - your ancestors all moved here for a better life and opportunity but now you're here and comfortable you seek to deny the same to others. The comment about not being thankful to the Americans for their war performance is an insult to our Canadian veterans - the Americans only joined WW1 for the final year while the commonwealth forces fought for 4 years. In WW2 they only joined in '41 because the Japanese attacked them - there is no indication they would ever have got involved otherwise despite what was happening in Europe.
Maybe we should build a wall on the Canada/US border and let all you folks that think the sun shines out of Uncle Sam's asshole move to the south side of it?

The Americans won the war (the pacific and europe). Britain would never have beaten the Germans without them.

They surely helped but they didn't win WW2 by themselves. They did not alter the course of WW1. They have a history of sitting on the fence until they see who is going to win before joining in.

And I am sure if the first nations could build a wall and had a generous welfare state behind it that they had to support, they would gone ahead and done it. Not too much to oppose when new immigrants voluntarily agree to live in a sod house somewhere.
..ummm, who would build it ?

You need a history lesson or two. By the way mr.ungrateful. But there's no talking to someone that has an attitude like yours. I would imagine you keep the verbal garbage isolated to the keyboard. I cant imagine people putting up with you face to face. Your probably not a bad guy, just terribly ignorant anonymously.

Translated into modern times that's not so different to the people Trump wants a wall to keep out. The millions of Mexicans that move to the US cleaning toilets for the rich and working in packing plants and doing all the other jobs your born in America Americans don't want to do. Many work for under minimum wage and send that money home to support their families - they don't live in sod shacks but I'm sure they'll live in the worst of accommodation many times. You can be damn sure they don't get free Medicare or welfare in the US.
