What do you think John McCallum was thinking when he said Meng Wanghou, the executive for Huawei, had some strong legal arguments for avoiding deportation to the US. Are the Liberals trying to regain credibility with China or was this just McCallum thinking out loud without, God forbid, getting permission from the Prince .

He's a senile old ****. The Liebs should have kicked his stupid ass to the curb 3 years ago. They didn't and we're paying for it. Schellenberg won't be a big loss to society if the Chinese whack him but the other two are lives worth preserving and John isn't the guy to be doing that. I suspect his days are numbered. The little potato was pressed hard this morning in New Brunswick and he never endorsed his ambassador. He didn't throw him under the bus but he had plenty of chances to endorse McCallum and he pointedly did not.
My prediction is an ambassadorial change this summer once this file has died down a bit. If the Chinese press hard he might go sooner.

Fired and gone, so do you give Trudeau credit for doing the right thing? I guess i do but also wonder if he is just the guy taking the fall for the Lib party. I was disgusted by things he said and did when he was the immigration minister, figured they sent him to china just to get rid of him.

Welp, this is going well - now China compares the Canadian government to a *****. Yup, we have just tons of respect, thanks to Trudy and company.

We do not want any cozy trade deals with china now that we see how they conduct business and diplomacy. We need to basically extract ourselves from this mess and then just be status quo with these guys for the foreseeable future. We get some cheap junk from them, they get some resources. Our trade with them is 10% of what it us with the US. Look for some other less hostile Asian countries to work with. Those in the TPP or something but not china.
And yes we need to get under Americas wing because there is a nasty world brewing and Canada is too full of weaklings to deal with it.
