Better not underestimate the Chinese' ability to starve themselves to death. They have slaughtered a lot of pigs due to that swine virus and have cut purchases of a lot of grain because they don't have to feed so many pigs and they are broke. This is looking like the big one.

They simply go elsewhere. The Russians, Ukrainians, Kazahks, Brazil, and Argentina can easily make up for what we supply, and they can starve us out way faster than we can starve them.

While 9 vessels waiting to unload sounds really bad, I just checked ship tracker and see that in the port of Shanghai alone are currently 2070 ships in port with another 756 arriving in the next 24 hours and 995 leaving. And this is just one Chinese port. So 9 ships is not a lot in the big picture. So the devil is in the details and hopefully macdon will expand or supply a source so we can evaluate the importance of 9 boats waiting to unload.

We're in no capacity to do so.
Plus all of their production is new tonnes.
Argentinas biggest traditional wheat market is flour to Brazil.
Today they fully supply that market and export an equal amount to East Asia.
$70 a tonne is our price disadvantage and our shiploads are getting rejected on quality just as often as other countries now.
This is a major problem we need to address.
Otherwise agriculture will go the way of A.V. Row, Nortel,
Blackberry, and barrick gold.

Argentina has sizable wheat trade with Bangladesh, Thailand, Vietnam and Indonesia. Comtrade does not list wheat flour to Asia
