The theme song for our current political scene is by big sugar....better get used to it! Trudeau's getting back in, although it might be a minority. Andrew scheer is a disgrace. He should be running ads taking a stance on issues. He's on the sidelines. Who the hell is advising this guy.
        What a joke.

There's times I'd like to see Andrew be more assertive too but remember that this election will not be won west of Thunder Bay. Rural Ontario and Quebec will be the key. Scheer is not the problem - Jughead Sing is our biggest threat because we need people to vote Dipper and they won't vote for this asshat. I expect to see some Lib votes flee to the Greens and I wouldn't be surprised to see 3 or 4 Greens actually get elected but I'm not sure that will be enough. The sad reality in Canada is that 35% of the voters will always vote Conservatives and 45% will never vote Conservative. The way the remaining 20% split is how elections get decided. Some years some of the 45% stay home and that is clearly a possibility this fall but I still think its a long shot to get rid of the hairdo.

Maybe the conservatives are gonna "throw it"? Waiting on the crash and burn. Let the liberals own the conditions they put in place and the population will beg for change. Capital is fleeing the country for lower tax rates and regulation, there's civil unrest, and we are not finished with deflation. Who wants to fix a hangover?

I think that is the plan. Always thought MacKay was stonewalled by Harper because he posed a threat to him. He left to lay in the weeds and wait for the opportune time to return. Sheer is a disgrace and only won the leadership by politicking and by no true popular support. Bernier didn’t fit the cp mold thought to appeal to mainstream voters and quite frankly stepped on his dick to give Sheer a reason to eliminate a competitor. Sheer is quite alright as a back room force calling shots and as an mp most probably but has the charisma of brown toast. The “steady hand on the rudder, I’m boring but capable” will not work yet.

Peter Mackay came from the Progressive Conservatives. I doubt that he will satisfy many far right conservatives.

Andrew Scheer is too progressive for the right wing of the CPC as well. Conservatives in Canada have to be pretty moderate to get elected.

Doug Ford had to run from Tanya Granic Allen who is a loose cannon.

                    Scheer

Whoa WhoaWhoa, iDK yet about Scheer, but I’ll give him a shot first.
It may make sense to keep your powder dry till yer closer to the target. What is it- 8 1/2 months yet.
Maybe time to fire a couple of shots, but I’d keep the broadside till I get closer. Fireworks starting a month before, till then training the troops and getting well organized. Qualifier - ?
I know nothing about running in an election.

I know I am in the minority, but those are exactly the qualities I would prefer in a leader. But unfortunately, it is a popularity contest where ability, competency, qualifications, and actuals policies are irrelevant. With the obvious results both sides of the border.
Wouldn't it be great if charisma and looks and name recognition didn't matter in politics, but policies did?

Maybe the Cons are hoping the Libs defeat themselves.

When other world leaders shun "Canada's"(of all countries) leader it is time for Canadian citizens to take note.

Time to try and regain respect and our place on the world stage. Nobody takes Trudeau and his lot serious, he in particular is inept, incompetent, and clueless. There is only one reason he is Canada's leader and it's not because of his abilities and suitability for the job.

                        Could it be any worse?

I wish mad Max was leader or Ford. Never did like that smirk sheer and he’s getting worse instead of better. Yep we’re doomed. Started packing it looks like.

Yes and that is why I put “yet” in my post. The zeitgeist now is for flamboyant figureheads. When people are sickened of this they will change. The post millennial generation I hold hope out to kick the millennials asses when they become a force.

I don't run elections either but you've got to accept there needs to be name recognition - and thus far Scheer is anonymous. Saying that the way the political process is supposed to work is that you vote for the Party representative of your choosing in your constituency. Scheer or Trudeau should be largely figureheads of their party and the public face. This move to more presidential style politics is not a good thing.
