Thanks Errol, I know it is a tough one to analyse because it mostly depends on what side of the bed the Chinese get up on each morning. It seems like every time canola gets a bit of traction it just can't quite get up over that hill of resistance, it has all these anchors tied to it's ass. The fundamental ones are easy to see, the political ones not so much. Yesterday U.S commodity gurus seemed to think that tonight's State of the Union address will be bullish for the grain trade, so I guess we will see.

Chinese bought American beans over the weekend, so possibly a good sign.

Chinese respect authority like trump because their survival depends on it, but Canada is a small weak naïve player and is about to get rolled. We have to extradite this lady now, ban that technology and crack down on illegal funds and drugs coming onshore from china. There is a good reason that the US included clauses in the USMCA agreement that prohibit Canada from cozying up to hostile powers. Canada would be nothing without the states.

We have heard more reports of Cdn canola cargoes now subjected to heightened checks in China. According to shippers, some canola cargoes have been delayed up to 2 to 3 weeks since the Huawei arrest. This may make canola exporters somewhat cautious heading into late winter (IMO).
