Hard to say. If you had a viable transit system it may be different.
I've taken public transit in Johannesburg, Las Vegas, and Buenos Aires.
I've never taken it in Saskatoon, though I tried to use the bus when Kurtis was born and we spent a week in the hospital... Connections didn't work out... So I took the truck in and out of that... Um... Maze.. ... Um... I meant parkade.

I've always believed that if anything good, besides the defeat of nazi Germany, ever came out of ww2 it was the unbelievable technological advances made by man kind. The years between 1939 and 1945 saw medical, nuclear, jet propulsion and on and on and on.

With a billion or more people .
High speed rail , makes perfect
Sense.
That would be a unmanageable amount of cars
Was in London. Subway/rail was great. Lots of walking from train to train to keep you fit.
Lost 5 lbs.in 3 weeks. 10 times
Faster than a bus . And it always seemed you could end up within 2-3
Blocks of anything.. amazing and clean. Paris not so clean but it worked.

The Windsor to Montreal corridor would justify a high speed rail link. Lots of talk about it, but no action. High speed rail may not make money. But then the road system doesn't make money either and is considered a public service paid for by tax payers.
Ride sharing, shared ownership of cars, self driving cars are all going to change the transportation landscape in many urban centres. Our economy, our infrastructure, our cities, our lives have all been heavily influenced by the automobile.
People prefer cars for transportation because there are often no other decent options. But we are subsidizing the road system in favour of cars. And traffic problems in urban centres are a big cost to the economy.
