Actual data.
2015 election
Election turnout 68.3% of voters, 39.5% vote Liberal, and L win 54.4% of the seats = 27% vote L
2011 election
Election turnout 61.4% of voters, 39.6% vote Cons, and C wins 53.9% of the seats = 24% vote C
The same argument you use against 2015 election was used by even more after 2011 election.
Easy to complain but what is your solution? What system do you think is better?

The US system is far far superior to our dictatorship.

The US system is far far superior to our dictatorship.
Simply looking at population numbers does not tell the entire story. You see, not everyone living in a riding or province is eligible to vote. If you look at eligible voter numbers , the picture is much different. In fact in the 2015 election, the province with the average highest number of eligible voters per riding was in fact Quebec. (81,290voters/riding) (the link shows the number of eligible voters in every riding.) A young province like Alberta (80,379voters/riding), with many children under 18, non Canadian citizens working here, or a high number of out of province workers who could be registered to vote in another province for the federal election distort population numbers compared to electorate registry numbers. But maybe you are right and Saskatchewan should lose some ridings given they average only 53,500 voters per riding. (Be careful what you ask for)
Furthermore, The Supreme Court ruled that ridings need to be adjusted so that the problem you pointed out is mitigated. That is why Alberta got 7 more seats in the last election, and Quebec only got 3 more. But it is an ongoing problem given the mobile population we have. Or when we have people like Jason Kenny claiming to be an Alberta resident by living in his mother's senior housing for 2 weeks a year so he could collect housing allowance while living in Ottawa when he was a MP.

Hey fjilip. Based on your complain about Trudeau getting so much power with such little support, what is your opinion on the Conservatives in Alberta getting 26 seats in parliament from 59.5 percent of the popular vote, yet the Liberals in Alberta got 24.6% of the vote yet only received 4 seats. Do you feel the Liberals in Alberta were cheated since the Conservatives got 6.5 times as many seats from only 2.4 times as many votes? And the NDP only got 1 seat yet 11% of the vote in the last federal election.
Still waiting for your suggestions for better elections.Last edited by dmlfarmer; Feb 14, 2019, 15:36.

The best election is no election.
Have a parliament of say 200 MPs. Every year choose 40 people from the pool of Canadian citizens with no exceptions except prisoners and people too sick to serve. They serve for 5 years then they’re out. That way you’re constantly having new ideas coming in but others with experience to mentor them. Pay them well and protect their jobs at home. Let them choose their own leader.
No more row after row of lawyers or career politicians.
No more party whips. No party donations as a form of lobbying.
Just janitors and mechanics and millionaires and stay at home moms. Some years Alberta might be over represented, some years Newfoundland will be underrepresented but it’ll average out over time.
Sure they’ll make mistakes but they’ll be honest ones compared to what they do now.
And 200 different agendas instead of 3 makes for honest debate, and no UN meddling.

Recall, if a certain number sign a petition, NO taxation without a vote on ballot.

Trudeau and Morneau inserted a new law into the last budget omnibus bill that will give politicians the ability to get SNC-Lavalin and other crooked corporations out of trouble so they can continue getting federal government contracts.

SNC was already under investigation when these friendly little chat-ups started.
One of the conditions for being allowed to make remediation rather than going to trial was that the accused party could not have any prior convictions on their record. SNC does have previous convictions.
So when Jody said "NO deal, the rules say that you're going to trial", SNC threw a little fit and went after Butts puppet, who went to visit Jody, who said "NO, I do not consent".
And because he didn't like the threats from SNC, Justin had no choice but to throw another woman under the bus.
He's building a solid track record and reputation as a misogynist, a woman abuser.
Hell of a thing for a self-proclaimed feminist Prime Minister.Last edited by burnt; Feb 16, 2019, 15:13.
