Why are Canadians and Americans wanting to be socialists.

I think the problem is that too many citizens don't know/understand, the extent to which, they need to be taxed in order to pay for all the "free" public services which are available to them and or others, that they receive right now. What I mean by "available to them or others", would be something like Medicare,,,where even though you haven't used the system for 5 or even more years, you still pay each year in taxes, just for it to be available to you.

People paying $10,000 - $20,000 in taxes think they are paying their share, but it doesn't come close to covering all the government costs, for all the available public services to them and each of their family members.

I believe the number is closer to $50,000 per year in Prov and Fed taxes to pay for your proportional share. A lot of people don't even make that much money in a year.

Also don't think the large portion of citizens that believe the wealthy should pay more realize how many of their own families are already subsidized by the wealthy and how risky it is to make a tax and economic environment unfavourable to that class. Their request longterm may actually leave less money in their jeans.

**** me.... the Ghetto pays its fair share. Ya, more than some people earn in a year! Feels real good, knowing I'm doing my part...while the Feds send another 47 million...to Yemen. Oh but I'm supposed to be greatful and ****en rights I am, that I'm here and not there, But!....

Ok let's take this a step further, what about all the money the Ghetto injects into the farming Industry? Between feeding the Industry parasites and paying payroll and income taxes...I'm doing my ****en share!

Easy way for governments to get ownership of everything thing including your land. Even if everything is payed for they will tax you out of it. It will just take a we bit longer. This is what happened to my grandparents and I thought it would never happen here.

According to a recent poll from Gallup, Americans aged 18 to 29 years old said they backed socialism over capitalism 51 to 45 percent.

Democrats, especially, hold a positive view of socialism.
