She was a lame duck already 2 yrs ago. AB gets a chance to rectify a huge mistake and make Trudeau shake in his boots a bit. Hopefully Kenny follows through and gets some action.

Not sure why you think a Federal NDP party leader winning a seat in BC would be a bad day for the NDP Premier of Alberta? As for Notley being a "lame duck" - she still beat the PC's handily.
Seems like Kenney might be in his own spot of trouble.

Think the ndp loss in Outremont is better indicative the party is becoming a rump. The BC win cost the ndp a lot of resources. They’d really be done if they lost. Though they’re on that path anyway. Can’t read much into byelections as turnout is historically low and those who show are party members harranged to get out.

Notley is done unless she can magically turn the economy around but that is out of her control. The rail car plan looks like an act of desperation not well thought out. Kenney has his skeletons and I’m not a fan but he has charisma and spunk. He’s a fighter. Too bad Sheer didn’t have some of that. Kenney will eat Notley in a debate.

Did Alberta voters finally learn their lesson the expensive way?

I predict a severe beat down on the anti-energy socialists in the upcoming May election but we will find out how many grass/chuckers have moved into Alberta from down east.

Grassfarmer when you buy a membership in a provincial NDP(except Quebec) you automatically become a member of the Federal NDP, they have shared memberships. Jagmeet Singh is anti-pipeline. He is not in favour of the Trans Mountain expansion or any other new pioeline developement in Canada which is decidedly at odds with Premier Notley. Up until now he was unable to push his case in parliament. Certainly creates a larger conundrum for our present Premier.

Still makes no sense - he was party leader before he had a seat and he still is. He wouldn't be in any position to influence pipelines etc until he becomes PM which I can't see happening - ever. Besides the election for that doesn't even happen until after Notley's election chance.

Of course it's intentionally lost on you that Hamloc was referring to Singh's pipeline policy position,
Jagmeet Singh will never ever be in a position to influence pipeline construction.

Also the voter turn out was something like 26 or 29%, if it's 50 or 60% in the general election, will Singh even be able to hang on to his seat? even if the Greens run a candidate?

I won't be the least bit surprised if in 12 years the NDP is completely folded and the Green Party takes over their memberships.

                    Scary shit, hey !
