But, she is a vocal advocate for ag, she has a positive and growing social media presence.

We need to make friends, not enemies, with the government and the general population. A codgy, jaded bastard like us isn't gonna do it, the future isn't into the "old white male" we rural folk like to elect.

I can't say I know much about the current MP there, but with her presence and tweets and selfies and videos, she makes farming relate-able and accessible. She'll bring the good kind of attention to Ag. You know, the kind we've been lacking as of late.
Exactly. Think you need a mixture of old and young, experienced and wet behind the ears, commoners and intelligencia. I liken it to a herd of cows. You could have a good old herd of cows but they get old so you need heifers too. The last ag minister was like one of those old cows that blends in with the herd and manages to escape the cull until you find she’s 20 years old and not sure if she weaned a calf for 5 years.

In grasslands the population is old white folk....commonly known as old stock canadians....

And I think they are still writing cheques for those full of piss and vinegar....and they still have influence and should have or we end up with people like Trudeau...

Stay on social media ( the modern day party line) .....post your yields ....tell the world how good farming is then go to a parliamentary committee and tell them the only worth you have is the life insurance policy....

          sheesh!!!!!!

Ottawa will chew her up and spit her out....

But they would do the same to me....imagine not being able to swear?????holy shit would I be hooped....
I get the experienced part but JT was put in place to be a poster boy to front the Liberals corruption machine in the back ground , as proven now .
Megz throwing her hat in is much different. She is much more of a farmer than some of the imposters on this site .... that’s for sure lol .
Regardless, if she does go all in , I wish her the best .

You're stuck in your ways, bucket! Social media is the way of the future, regardless of political preferences!

Poor Ralph is that old Hereford bill that looks to be a healthy specimen but in all truth hides in the bush and doesn’t breed a thing.

They eliminated party lines for a reason....google won't allow political ads during the election....Call me a dinosaur ...I don't like everyone knowing my business on social media...

You don't think government officials don't take note of those yields monitor pictures.....try getting input manufacturers to post their yields/costs on social media...

Bragging on social media is ****ing stupid....

I will be a dinosaur ...i am fine with that....Social media didn't speed up the SNC file if it was the way of the future...

Now people are starting to question whether jobs are at stake in the first place...good excuse but not accurate...

From my days at the steel mill as a technologist ...if capital spending is happening... engineers are required...I did the layouts for the expansion back in the early nineties....once the plan was in place the files moved to the engineering contractor for building design and cost etc...I went back to other in house projects...

If SNC is leaving then I would be very worried about the economy but governments have billions in projects....

Be worried and it has been pointed out capital is fleeing this country....thats Trudeau's fault ....

What is Megz position on fixing that??????

No Marusko, social media is on the cusp of being heavily regulated. It will eventually be put under the classification of a public utility and its content heavily scrutinized. It is not the future for free speech, probably never was.

The future is playing out in the US already, unmixing people with wildly differing viewpoints that will never find a middle ground and creating strong voting geographic voting blocs. Conservatives on the coasts are moving inland to red states and vice versa. That will eventually happen in Canada as well.

I don't know this lady running, but to me she sounds like one of those youtube farmers. You know take pics and vids of stuff your dad and grandpa built up and pretending its all you. Millennial farmer washing off the quadtrac and posting the video.

Luckily I’m just old enough not to be a millennial. So I can rag on them some. Doesn’t hurt to get the young to present a new upbeat image of ag. That’s fine. But you are right. They are riding on previous generations coat tails. No one not even me have a near inkling of the struggles and strife those before us went to to have what we have today. Even my younger peers you sense they just don’t get it sometimes. It wasn’t long ago when $2 barley and $6 canola was a reality. I started farming pretty much out of high school while others did university or went to the patch before coming back. In retrospect I somewhat regret not finishing university but what I didn’t regret was getting a good idea of how bad it can get and to live within your means. Something I see lacking in the younger folks and later comers to ag.
