    Regardless, if she does go all in , I wish her the best .
    Thankyou Furrowtickler for encouraging a hard working person... to build a better more effective Canada...

    BTW BUCKET... the principal on which Megz stands on Seed royalties, and the hope that we can collectively create better more innovative seed varieties... is sound, rational, responsible, common sense, frugal policy that respects personal responsibility and sacrifice.

    Here is why... Bucket... you and SF3 are blinded by misguided misunderstanding:

    There are no grain farmer... who pay MORE SEED 'TAX' if that is what you must call the SEED 'ROYALTIES'...
    THAN;

    SEED GROWERS.

    HERE IS WHY... IF YOU WOULD TAKE YOUR ARROGANT BLINDERS OFF FOR ONE SECOND;

    SEED GROWERS MUST SUBMIT ALL THE ROYALTY 'SEED TAX' PAYABLE ON THE PEDIGREED SEED WE GROW... MANY TIMES PAYING:

    100% more ROYALTY 'SEED TAX' on our own commercial production.... because we are required to make up the shortfall on ROYALTY 'SEED TAX' that is caused by farmers who cheat and refuse to pay their own way to use this intellectual property [the seed variety] that the ROYALTY 'SEED TAX' exists to be sent back to plant breeders who created [the seed variety] in the first place.

    PLEASE REMEMBER... SEED GROWERS ARE NOT GIVEN ONE CENT, OR ALLOWED TO KEEP ONE CENT OF THE [the seed variety] ROYALTY 'SEED TAX'.

    SEED GROWERS ARE RESPONSIBLE TO SUBMIT 100% OF [the seed variety] ROYALTY 'SEED TAX' due on the planting seed... irrespective of whether or not there was enough margin in the planting seed sale to the commercial grain farmer... this planting seed was provided to.

    SEED GROWERS get NONE OF the [seed variety] ROYALTY 'SEED TAX but must make up the difference for the 'brown bag' cheaters who insist on stealing the;

    intellectual property [a part of the seed variety] that the ROYALTY 'SEED TAX' that is being given... that exists to be sent back to plant breeders who created [the seed variety] in the first place.

    Therefore

    Megz stand on Seed royalties... is solid rational thinking.

    How exactly the seed variety payment due... that the ROYALTY 'SEED TAX' is fairly collected... is the issue that is truly the point of contention.

      Tom do you get the news where you are. You heard about china torpedoing our canola market? Maybe you haven't heard about the nitrogen price increases as well or the carbon tax applied to everything now.

      And you are going defend a seed tax? cmon man. This industry will be dead by a thousand cuts if this continues.

        megz can be easily manipulated.....your masters would love her

        I thought the seed tax was a benefit for average farmers.....how will it work out for better varieties when out customers like china make up excuses not to buy or other factors that have nothing to do with agriculture....

        We could be looking at some tough years with Trudeau ignoring his part in this latest canola issue....new varieties won't solve this problem.....

        Now look in the mirror and see who needs to take the blinders off...

          Perhaps some sour g****s on my part, but in many cases, I get the impression that what you write isn't far from the truth. Many young farmers who inherited a viable operation, do almost exactly as you state. They may not be the majority, but they seem to have the greatest public presence, and I can't see the rest of us expecting to get much sympathy as a result. Some posters on this site exemplify this exactly.

            The new young BTO with inheritance that have a real public presence are the ones that are a nuisance on the farm.....I can name one but the ginger doesn't really engage in my questions I have texted him....too stupid to answer.... other than my mind can't be changed...

              Thx Bucket for your bringing up Chinese abuse of ‘Intellectual Property Rights’ And being the prime offending power globally in justifying political manipulation to break contracts and steal property contrary to the Rule Of Law.

              This theft is also what is happening in the planting seed situation with Cereal and Pulse PBR protected varieties.

              As with the abusing Chinese, the grain farmer who steals varietal intellectual property... both situations destroy the rule of law and depreciate all of our assets.
              Cheers... thanks again for enforcing what the actual situation is.

                I don't know what the **** you are talking about....

                So let me be clear....new varieties with an attached seed tax won't help when the Chinese close their markets...

                I am not talking about the chinese stealing anything....They closed their market and its going to impact every commodity in Canada.

                Can I be more clear or do you just have an standard stupid answer like Trudeau...

                And quit calling farmers thieves...

                  Farmers who steal varieties of planting seed with PBR ...without paying their legally binding royalties...
                  Are as much breaking : moral and ethical; as well as legal obligations to refrain from these activities if and when they break the laws by planting these genetically identifiable varieties of planting seed... as are those farmers who sell the “brown bag” planting seed under UPOV 78 and 91.

                  PM Justin was right... not stating our specific concerns clearly when the opportunity is provided... leaves the door wide open for those whom feel entitled to continue abusing our laws and property... to continue the illegal and immoral behaviour.

                  The Chinese are making a simple logic based argument... PM Justin refuses to obey the “rule of law” therefore the Chinese will take advantage of every Canola Grower around the globe... by depressed Canola prices... for political and financial gain of the buyers of our Canola seed.

                  Simple for me and other Seed Growers to understand : (theft is theft no mater whom the thief is)...
                  How about you and SF3?
                  Sincerely

                    If seed that comes from my neighbor is still certified seed because a royalty has to be paid on it....then I should be paid for it as certified seed at the elevator....it isn't certified after being in the field of any commercial farmer....

                    Please smarten the **** up....

                    And quite frankly most certified seed is barely pure....as proven by the triffid flax episode.....

                      Wow a lot of different opinions of Megz on here. She is not in my riding but i think i would take a chance and support her. She is young and a positive advocate for Ag and i don't think she was born with a trust fund so i think that would set her apart from the air head Trudeau. Because of her huge social media popularity she gets politicians to listen to her. Don't blame her for that.

                      I have seen a lot of different characters over the years run for a political position and i think she would be ahead of all of them. All she needs is a good mentor.
