Wheat yield increases have been as much as canola over the past 2 decades from plant breeding.

My issue was only this... you folks attacking a good hearted lady... for respecting the rule of law... and wanting to build a better Canada.

I have been a seed grower for 45 years... because I and my family enjoy providing high quality pedigreed planting seed to those who want to buy our product.

If no farmers cheated... and stole our ineffectual property rights contained in these special seed varieties... then further need to resolve this injustice would not be needed, nor would this discussion be required.

I am so fn sick of this virtue signalling and now its come to our industry. I produce the best product but my customers are all cheats so I must tax them and its the rule of law or some such BS.

No one wants our product. ...Chinese don't want our canola....India doesn't want our pulses....Saudi Arabia doesn't want our wheat....

And China will probably close the flax market to us as well....

So seed companies can tell the CGC to deregister older varieties that don't have a tax on them....

Wow a lot of different opinions of Megz on here. She is not in my riding but i think i would take a chance and support her. She is young and a positive advocate for Ag and i don't think she was born with a trust fund so i think that would set her apart from the air head Trudeau. Because of her huge social media popularity she gets politicians to listen to her. Don't blame her for that.

I have seen a lot of different characters over the years run for a political position and i think she would be ahead of all of them. All she needs is a good mentor.

If she runs under the conservative banner in grasslands she has a good off farm job.....but realistically you could put a chimpanzee in grasslands under the conservative banner and it would get elected....matter of fact one just retired.....

I sort of take back my earlier statements criticizing her. The only thing that bothers me is twitter celebrities making themselves the self appointed spokesperson for ag with no experience. But she is enthusiastic and I would assume genuine in her wanting to run. Much better than the religious nuts running and winning the nomination. Getting your congregation from your fundamentalist church sadly guarantees a nomination. Maybe her twitter following will carry her to victory. I wish her luck.

You guys realize many veterans from WW2 had successful quiet careers in farming when they came home....and they suffered but the farm gave them the peace they needed and resolve to move on.....

There are successful solutions that tackle many of our problems across the board.....

I don't think many farmers cheated and stole your property Tom. All the farmers I know buy cert seed from a seed grower. Some of the common seed that came off those fields gets cleaned and replanted but that's common seed and not against the law yet.
The problem I see is greedy seed company's all wanted a piece of the action so they all developed four of five varieties and we ended up with 40 different varieties but they are the same, none of them stand out. With forty varieties no one gets enough acers and if someone develops a better variety they will make lots of money. Don't blame farmers for this mess and try to make us pay more for the situation you guys created!
