If the royalty you have to pay on your farm grown pedigreed seed to produce grain for sale to commercial growers isn't to your liking, take it up with the Plant Breeders Association. You are still trying to add value for your farm, if it weathers beyond being suitable for certified seed or no one wants it thats your problem, it's called risk.

Your other rants seem to be accusing all farmers as thief’s . Just wanted ya to clear that up lol.
Most of us understand there is definitely costs involved by the seed growers to grow these varieties.
There is most likely not a lot of extra “returns” in growing pedigree seed. It’s the breeders that are soaking you guys.
It’s the plant breeders who think they need to be instant billionaires for developing some mediocre new varieties that is just barely better the last one and are expecting all farmers be forced to buy his new super seed every year. That’s the fear out there from most of the farmers and the mistrust of where UPOV 91 will lead .
There is very very little selling of “brown bag” seed . Most farmers respect PBR a lot more than you think .

Geez, regarding midge tolerant wheat I will already have 10% of a "refuge variety" added to the midge tolerant one when its sold to me. So if a seed grower wants to grow a midge tolerant variety for commercial sale...who cares if there's "afew" volunteers of the added refuge variety already in the field?

This example doesn't sound too onerous if managed properly.

Also don't hurt yourself falling off your moral high horse named "Purity". Because its "Purity" WITHIN specs. I would bet my farm its not 100% ....there's some "jackass" in that horse called "Purity".

Wheat yield increases have been as much as canola over the past 2 decades from plant breeding.

My issue was only this... you folks attacking a good hearted lady... for respecting the rule of law... and wanting to build a better Canada.

I have been a seed grower for 45 years... because I and my family enjoy providing high quality pedigreed planting seed to those who want to buy our product.

If no farmers cheated... and stole our ineffectual property rights contained in these special seed varieties... then further need to resolve this injustice would not be needed, nor would this discussion be required.

No one wants our product. ...Chinese don't want our canola....India doesn't want our pulses....Saudi Arabia doesn't want our wheat....

Wow a lot of different opinions of Megz on here. She is not in my riding but i think i would take a chance and support her. She is young and a positive advocate for Ag and i don't think she was born with a trust fund so i think that would set her apart from the air head Trudeau. Because of her huge social media popularity she gets politicians to listen to her. Don't blame her for that.

I have seen a lot of different characters over the years run for a political position and i think she would be ahead of all of them. All she needs is a good mentor.

If she runs under the conservative banner in grasslands she has a good off farm job.....but realistically you could put a chimpanzee in grasslands under the conservative banner and it would get elected....matter of fact one just retired.....

I don't think many farmers cheated and stole your property Tom. All the farmers I know buy cert seed from a seed grower. Some of the common seed that came off those fields gets cleaned and replanted but that's common seed and not against the law yet.
The problem I see is greedy seed company's all wanted a piece of the action so they all developed four of five varieties and we ended up with 40 different varieties but they are the same, none of them stand out. With forty varieties no one gets enough acers and if someone develops a better variety they will make lots of money. Don't blame farmers for this mess and try to make us pay more for the situation you guys created!
