    Canola Commissions

I was just wondering if everyone on all the various canola commissions are busy in the field. Hardly a peep on something that could be the most devastating thing to happen in the canola market in a decade. Maybe they are all already on the plane on their way to china to meet with officials, please forgive my ignorance. Perhaps they are all in meetings in Ottawa briefing the new ag minister, and the prime minister on the importance of canola to the Canadian economy, and especially the farm economy. Possibly since they all have other jobs and are important people maybe they are first meeting up this weekend to discuss a strategy to lobby the government to give a damn.

Or more likely they are all on holidays skidooing since this is the first nice weekend in two months. So far we have gotten a two paragraph press release that says how great canola is, but nothing on how they plan to help resolve this issue. Trade issues like this are literally the only thing worth keeping the canola growers around for, and what do we get from them so far, F all, nothing, nada, zilch, squat. If they can't be bothered to be pounding this issue to both the media and government, what worth do they have. Perhaps they have already spent all our money on leadership training for all our up and coming twitter stars.

In 2003(approx) when Asian countries where blocking imports of elk antlers, I was on the plane headed to Beijing, and sitting next to me where three or four guys involved in the elk board who where on their way to china to talk to chinese officials about the ban. And from what I recall this was days after the ban, and I am pretty sure the one guy said they were paying for this on their own dime(though I could be mistaken). I doubt our canola board members would cross the street without a per diem.

If they can't be bothered to make this a priority, then this is the last straw for me. It's time to start asking for our money back.

The fraggle rock theme song reminds me of our commissions, "Dance your cares away, save your worries for another day"

Not sure crickets survive the winter but thats all I’m hearing on this disaster.

Anyone getting Deja Vu? I lost substantial amount of income when the pulse tariffs hit. Likely the same fate on my canola now.....

Is there anything that they can do though? Assuming this really is entirely retribution for the arrested executive, nothing they could say will change anything until she is released.

When trump ****ed up trade ....he threw 12 billion at farmers....

This is all Trudeau's doing....he won't do shit beause no one will lobby for direct payments like in the states..

        Farm organizations are quiet....

Their lobbying has proven useless.....on pulses and now canola....and the federal government is deaf....

I think there is a big problem with this going unreported.

I'm sure the Chinese expected it to get a lot more attention.

Yesterday on CTV Power and Politics the part time host mentioned rising western alienation with all the job losses in the patch and the fact the Chinese had "a cargo" of Canola the were holding up.

The liberal hack on the panel replied there is always alienation and they had demonstrated their commitment by buying us a pipeline. No problem, move along now, and that was that.

Maybe someone on twitter could get Megz to send them a tweet so it at least got on the radar.

I'm sure the PM dosn't want this boiling up and is happy with the way it's going into the weekend.

                It's the week end.

They will have to arrange a meeting and get a consensus on how to handle it.

                Maybe appoint a committee.

Get Megz to send the tweet.

It is bullshit that the various boards aren’t screaming at the federal liberals.

It’s the pulse thing but 50 times worse.

We live in a very stupid country, run by morons.

Do nothing it will work it self out.

                  **** that.

If this was the USA or France we would burn down the house.

This is so serious yet send us money from check offs and create seed tax is all good but actually do something.

                  Crickets.

This is why I hate canada more and more every day.

Notice how it’s the Richardson cargo’s running into trouble? Triffid flax in Europe and now canola in China? Are they old WINNIPEG Liberals and are a good target or something else? I don’t know...just asking the question.

It is very well run company, Curt Vossen is a grainco visionary that was well trained at Cargill and has made a lot of dough for his owners and himself.

But the lobbying on behalf of his company requires farmers and MEGZ to push the issue...maybe she can get in front of the agriculture committee....no sense in asking any of us with 30 years experience of an opinion......

The commissions have a solution: need a seed tax so billionaire seed breeders can release the 100 bu/ac varieties and then it can be grown for $6 per bushel. I think Richardsons were targeted by the Chinese because of historical ties to the lieberal party. The Chinese are using this as a test case to see if canuckistanian law can be subverted from Beijing as it can be from *****bec. They are learning that nobody who matters care about western canuckistan just as we already know. Well get ready for lower for longer just like the pulse industry is currently enjoying.

Your right, probably not a whole lot they can do. But doing nothing certainly wont help. At the very least they could be putting out a press release on their plans on how they are going to resolve this. Its a large bit of hyperbole on my part to be expecting all the directors to be boarding a plane to china to resolve this. But at the very least I would expect some of the employees to be headed to Ottawa to help the government understand the importance of a resolution. If this is a phytosanitary problem, as China says, there must be a way to resolve this and we should be figuring out how. Perhaps we need to stop adding dockage to our shipments, just because its allowed(maybe this isn't done, but if it is it should be stopped). If this is a political situation, well then we need Justine to do his damn job.

This is a very serious situation and at the very least I would be expecting the canola directors to be meeting days ago to come up with a plan. And perhaps letting the farmer in on what their plan is, because the plan seems to be just sticking their heads in the sand.

Time to stop funding them. They are useless as us evident they should be saying a lot already.

                              I agree with Big Wheel.

This head in the sand approach is sickening and we should quit funding them.

Oh maybe they need a meeting in Hawaii or some place.

Slapaliberal is becoming a new hashtag ah first out of the box
