I was just suggesting that for the sake of credibility, that you don't try to justify the war on CO2 by trying to confuse CO2 with actual harmful pollutants, most independent thinking people are now informed enough to differentiate between the two, and no longer fall for such tactics, and tune out once that is part of the message.
AF5, I have no doubt that within a minute or two of searching I could find a site that would provide the trend you want ME to see and believe for any of the factors you mention. No matter what the topic, there is likely sites both pro and con. Anti-vaxer sites make great cases for avoiding vaccinations and I doubt an anti-vaxer would be swayed by a science based pro vax site. In fact I suspect most anti-vaxers probably don't spend time reading a site promoting vaccinations simply because of CONFIRMATION BASIS - the tend only to look for and believe what already supports our existing position.

Who is right, Food Babe or Farm Babe? Both have internet sites and link to other sites that provide "stats" that support their position. How many people read both before making a decision on a position either of these persons state or do people simply follow one or the other based on existing values and beliefs?

How many times are sites quoted on this forum which turn out not to be actual research or news but rather an opinion piece written by a columnist rather than a researcher? Before posting a link on this site, how many posters actually look at the credibility of the site they are promoting in terms of the author and research or do they post it simply because it confirms their personal basis's?

Never once did I mention CO2 and agree fully it is a critical atmospheric gas needed for plant growth. Water is also critical and needed for ALL life as we know it. But too much water creates problems and people can even drown in water even though it is critical to their living. I dare you to tell Nebraskans right now that too much water is never a problem. Hell even SF3 has said repeatedly that drought is better than too much rain. What is the tipping point where CO2 goes from being a critical gas to a problem? I don't know. But I do know that in the last 800,000 years, through natural cycles, ice ages, and warm periods C02 has never exceeded 300 ppm until a hundred years ago and is currently over 400ppm. We are in uncharted territory as far as mankind and society living in an environment with this much CO2 in the atmosphere and I base my position on what I feel is the best possible scientific evidence from the most credible atmospheric scientists after listening and discussing this issue with "experts" from both sides.

There is nothing about a trend I want you to see. There is nothing objective about counting tornadoes, or hurricanes or other extreme weather(for example) or measuring sea level. The official information is out there as compiled by national agencies, all you have to do is look it up, could even compile it, analyse and chart it for yourself to ensure you are not being influenced by someone else's confirmation bias ( not basis).

Otherwise, as I stated, not going to go through this all over again. At this point, it is becoming obvious that thanks to mother nature, the science is winning over sensationalism, and given enough time science will prevail. All we need to do is ensure that no rogue groups cause irreparable harm through geoengineering, and bide our time until common sense prevails or the next emergency (real or imagined) displaces this one.

It was the coldest Feb most places, but not the coldest winter. News wasn't very busy apparently.

Environment Canada senior climatologist David Phillips said that while this stretch might make you think this is the coldest winter ever, the numbers tell a different story.

"So far this winter is warmer than normal," he said. "January, believe it or not, was almost a degree-and-a-half warmer than normal. December was three degrees warmer than normal."

Are you saying there is a conspiracy happening with all the temp measuring devices as well?

Haven't you heard? Al Gore has a team of undercover operatives that go round the thermometer factory changing the wee numbers on the scales, lol.

Most of the temps are recorded in the cities

I have a tendency to look at real examples around me. One thing the frost has gone down farther than in most years. A neighbour has a steamer which he has been running for the last month virtually non stop thawing out frozen sewers. My one neighbour built his house in 1997 and this is the first year he has had a frozen sewer, had to have it steamed out twice. Certainly I think part of the problem was lack of snow cover until it started snowing in late January(although obviously our first snowfall was back in early September). But February was one cold son of a bitch!

As for financing government in Alberta I certainly think the fact that we continue to spend all of our non renewable resource to fund daily operations instead of saving some of this for future generations is unforgivable. Personally I happen to agree with Horse that Alberta needs a sales tax. I am certainly not a socialist and I consider myself a fiscal conservative and a social libertarian. The fact remains that most government spending goes to supply services to us and we should pay for it.

                                https://www.manitobacooperator.ca/weather/how-we-dodged-a-weather-bullet/?module=cat6&pgtype=article&i=

"A second weather topic that cropped up once again is the whole idea that since we (much of southern Canada and the northern U.S.) have been so cold, how on earth can there be global warming? I don’t know how many times I must argue this point: the key word here is “global,” not North America, not Canada, not Manitoba warming! In an article a few years ago, I discussed how you can visualize the cold air around the Earth’s poles as a blob of goo. The cold air sags southward and is pushed northward depending on several different factors. The key to this visualization or analogy is that there is only so much of the goo, or cold air. If cold air is allowed to sag southward in one part of the world, as we saw across North America in February, then it’s likely that warm air surged northward in another part of the world. Looking back at February, this is exactly what we find.

As the core of arctic air shifted into the Hudson Bay region in February, bringing some of the coldest weather we have seen in the last 20 years, across a large part of Europe very unseasonably warm air moved in, breaking numerous records for early-season heat. In North America, during the cold snap, three all-time record lows were recorded, as shown in Table 1 (above).

In contrast, during the final few days of February (Feb. 26-28), several stations either tied or broke not just station records but national monthly records, as shown in Table 2 (below).

Of interest, on Feb. 27, the mean monthly temperature for all of France was 21.3 C, which was the warmest February day on record.

Europe was not the only place to see record heat. Looking at the Southern Hemisphere, New Zealand and Australia ended up seeing record-breaking heat during their summer. While not a lot of all-time records were broken, the heat was continuous and long lasting. January ended up being the warmest month ever recorded for Australia, while the December-to-February period (summer) saw a mean temperature that was 2.14 C above average, shattering the previous record set in 2012-13 by nearly 0.7 C. Things were also very warm across Chile in early February, with 10 all-time records broken from Feb. 1 to 4. Thanks to Christopher C. Burt and the WeatherUnderground for these stats.

So, remember, while we might feel like we are the whole world, we are not — and while we were cold, a much larger part of the planet was way warmer than we were cold."
