SK, that may actually not be such a bad thing after all. We know the US can handle the quantities better and their transport costs are much lower than ours. So we might lose some currency exchange in the process but at least our production has a home. If canola and wheat aren't grown here its probably shut the lights off and walk.

it might be just the first line in the US taking us right over. I am sure that's being talked about in higher circles. If I have a choice between being taken over by the US or governed by Quebec elite, that's an easy choice.

I agree i would rather be an American than run by the Quebec Mob.

How does this all effect companies like Input Capital Corp? Or anyone that has contracts signed.

Cargill will make out like bandits.

Does anyone see a similarity to Oil?....
There is some truth to that - but a closer correlation to beef than oil. Where you are mistaken is claiming that this is Liberal caused or can only happen under a Liberal Government. This is the road we have been going down for the last 20+ years regardless of who has been in power. It's a factor of our resource base relative to our population compared to the same factors in the US and the increase in corporate control over primary agriculture worldwide.

So as Canada pushes for more renewables where do you suppose all our solar panels come from? China. On the other side of the coin, who is our supposed market for the oil that is going to flow through the TMX expansion? China and Asia. Looks like a mess all around. But as Trudeau is slowly trying to eviserate the western Canadian oil industry he is pushing for solar power supplied by the same country that is harming the western Canadian grain industry. Fml.

That's conjecture - there is apparently no established market in Asia for the increased oil exports. It would be loaded on tankers at the coast and shipped into California - where we would continue to receive steep discounts on it relative to the US domestic produced product. Easier and cheaper to pipe/ship than to truck/train that's all you'd achieve by building a pipeline with no guarantees price to the producer would increase by a cent.

Typical liberal Bullshit line. China doesnt want our oil and if we build a pipeline it will get loaded on ships and sent to california on a discount.

                Wow.

                Typical bullshit.

Grass, china is in like a dirty shirt in venezuala. Of course there is a market for our heavy crudes and we could be supplanting that country right now if we had pipelines.

Trudeau will not destroy western Canada because our lifeline is the US Midwest. Declare separation, join the US, get our resources in US demoninated currency and let those Quebec fools govern themselves. Its the only way. Peter Zeihan has laid this out perfectly. If we stay in Canada, we will be bled dry while our COP skyrockets and our markets dry up in competition with lower cost countries. Joining the US is the only way. We just haven't realized it yet. Might take another Trudeau term. I think we should be hoping he gets in again.

China has outbreak of African swine flu.

Earlier, maybe January, they had lost 600,000 pigs.

I'm not a pig guy but I think that means about 200,000 tn less feed.

Maybe they had to renege on some contacts and they picked us.

Pigs are locked limit up on futures. Big deal worldwide.

China has 450 million pigs, over 1/2 the world population.

This is from a vet recently over there:

"Brett Stuart, president of Global AgriTrends, told the audience at the American Association of Swine Veterinarians (AASV) meeting being held this week in Orlando, Fla., that African swine fever (ASF) is a global “black swan” event for the pork industry.

Currently, there are three pillars of the ASF problem, he noted.

“You have the world’s worst hog disease in the world’s largest hog herd — it’s high density, it’s not standardized and it all shares infrastructure, whether it be trucks, feed mills or slaughter plants — and you have a government that is completely lacking in transparency that is trying to cover it up. So, there’s not a lot of reporting on it,” Stuart said.

Additionally, the spread of the disease is vast and deep, he said -- “way, way, way worse than we are hearing.”

Stuart, who has been talking to as many as possible about the disease, said a big commercial hog operation privately told him they have lost 95% of their sows."

40% of their production is small producers out in the yard, no bio security an little knowledge of it

Looks like Canadian Canola probably isn't at the top of their priority list.
