That was what they were saying a few weeks back but it has changed - there are already signs up at the cardlocks here in Manitoba spelling that out.

    From the Western Producer
"Farm fuel purchased at cardlocks will be exempt from the federal carbon tax when it comes into force April 1. Draft regulations released in the March 19 federal budget included a provision for the exemption, but with a 30-day comment period. That led to some confusion as to when exactly the exemption would be in place. According to the finance department, the Canada Revenue Agency, which is responsible for administering the program, “will administer draft amendments on the assumption that the amendments will be enacted. As such, the expanded relief for farmers would be available as of April 1.”

The carbon tax on our fuel is the last of our worries ... just wait .
It’s the carbon tax on everyone else’s fuel that will be passed to us . And then carbon tax on fert that have been projected to be $200/tn
This is just a baby step , no different than the seed tax , it’s never the first wave that knocks you , it the one that follow

It'll be cheaper to rent a truck from a trucking company, the driver to provide services, plate and fuel it myself, then to hire a company to deliver..... the hunt for taxes is going insane

I think that figure has been revised to over $500 million in GST just in the first year, and up every year. Plus they are keeping 10% of the carbon tax.

In theory the carbon tax is supposed to encourage us to produce less C02 by using greener alternatives. 1 gigajoule of natural gas produces the same amount of energy as 277 kwh of electricity. I pay $6.98 per gigajoule of natural gas of which $1.517 is carbon tax in Alberta($30 tonne carbon tax). I pay on average $.19 a kwh for electricity. So to produce the same amount of energy in electricity would cost me $52.63 or roughly 7.5 times as much! So to heat my house with electricity would be prohibitively expensive. To make it work electricity would have to be 3 cents a kwh all in. In Alberta the cost of generation is capped at 6.8 cents the rest of the cost is transmission, so transmission alone is 12.2 cents for me.

The thing with this carbon tax, even if future governments get rid of it, do you really think that any prices will come down? Some carbon tax is hidden.

Saskatchewan has been paying the carbon tax ever since they put the carbon capture on a coal fired power plant....

Not sure why people can't use their ****ing brains....

Because people only hear what they want to hear and do not question.

I am getting a kick out of all the Albertans flocking to support Kenney because of his promise to axe the carbon tax yet on April 3rd he come out in support of carbon capture and sequestration again - a process that is much more costly and less effective than a carbon tax or cap and trade. https://www.thestar.com/edmonton/2019/04/03/ucp-moving-backwards-on-failed-carbon-capture-and-sequestration.html https://www.thestar.com/edmonton/2019/04/03/ucp-moving-backwards-on-failed-carbon-capture-and-sequestration.html

And this is not the first time he has supported carbon capture. I remember he made similar comments back in February. But if the UPC climate change plan is not funded by a direct tax on emitters but rather the costs are hidden in government spending and deficits (that must still be funded by the Alberta taxpayer) it must be acceptable.

Maybe that carbon capture will come in handy when the climate changes and we are actually low on carbon. ;|
