Unless they farm they are clueless. As to how serious this drought is, I think some are in tough, and some areas are looking pretty sharp. Not unlike most years.

I have to say, with the supposed last several years of what I hear are phenomenal yields in lots of places, I wonder why crop insurance coverage wouldn’t at least help?

I ask that seriously, because I have had some deplorable years, but my coverage is still pretty darn good. It is high enough that with zero yields, I will farm again. What more can we ask for.

I get the seriousness, but when we were drowned out which imho is so much worse than dry, we never got much out of the deal.

If they think there's still "time"....they better have a plan when some people run out of it.

Maybe they're hoping crop insurance, agstability, aginvest and private insurance will be the Knights in Shining Armour....me thinks those programs resemble the Four Horsemen of the Apocolypse.

One of my neighbors with the 700 000 dollar Deere, a spouse with a 150 000 dollar wage, and rows of shiny bins and so on, swears we farmers need ad hoc payments. And NOW!

          I just don’t get it????

bucket there is no money for ag. Its not an important part of our economy. You are asking for more than the govt can give.

But if you get a sex change and move to another country, you could get some cash.

Global women's health is abortion services. Biggest joke around.

Politicians are never aware of drought events until months later, maybe it's a denial thing. Speaking of denial i'll tell you one thing - for those of you who continually insist there is no climate change, "it's just weather and hot years and cold years have always happened" - realize that your current and past statements do not lend support to your aims of getting payments from Government to address the current drought.
For the record I'm not in favour of additional Government help and as a cattle operation we are in a way worse position than grain growers - being largely uninsured in comparison.
