    Seed Tax

So why is the trade so quite on the seed tax as of late? Do these opportunists feel now is not the time to discuss the tax when farmers are facing drought, tariffs and lost export markets? Do they think the tax will be more acceptable when yield prospects could be looking better, and grain prices a little stronger? Now is the time we should be talking about imposing and passing more costs down to the primary producer when many will face a tough time financially with the current costs of primary production.

It can be almost guaranteed that breeders assumed the past 10 year wet cycle would continue on forever, so they poured all their resources into breeding for that. How's semi dwarf work in a drought? We are gonna find out

Wonder how all the plot tours will work out this year....

How will they explain yields equal to older varieties that have been reclassified. ..and same quality ...

This is not dead. The fact we don't hear anything about it scares the shit out of me.

They are quietly planning, scheming and conniving. They will be more ready than ever. Speaking of "Con"niving....if the Cons get in in the next Fed election they will make it easy to pass this cash grab through. We know the Con ideology.

As far as I'm concerned they can still **** off. There is a myriad of varieties being produced and released without taking more money from Primary Producers.

Speaking of semi dwarf, we moved away from the tall straw varieties into semi dwarf....and we are swathers. I hope we have enough material to put a swath together. The other varieties had just too much straw.

Do you think we will ever see test results that we can trust as far as quality and quantity goes?

                No.

CNHR has for the most part been blended off at the terminals. Nothing much to test.

if this drought persists they will be begging for CNHR and sadly it won't be there because feed wheat bids are 6.50 in the last couple days...

thousands of cows going to lots that have to be fed.....there will be quality food wheats being fed to cows....

****ing seed tax is a joke...you need better varieties to feed to cows ???????

Heard a rumor that the higher ups have already decided on the saved seed royalty, not EPR. But that it will not get passed in time before the writ drops. So it will be the next gov't baby going into the fall/winter.

The consultation bs was just that...bs

And just how do they plan on policing the Saved Planting Seed Royalty?

I grow good wheat crops by seeding 3/4 of a bushel per acre.

No, they won't Dave if I can help it.

But I guarantee if the NDP and Green and Liberals join it will go ahead and then some.

Like phone your cows and set up an appointment with them to have a calf at hours of 7 to 7.

Stupid shit will come and Ag will be hit the worst.
