This statement needs to be framed and put up on the wall. It just epitomizes the contemptuous, jealous bitter attitude of those on the left. Thanks for sharing how you really feel, and explaining it so well. This attitude is so prevalent amongst people like Chuck, and there are so many of them in this country, that this is exactly why separation is the only option. Like I said in another thread, to you guys, it is never about striving to be better, always about dragging everyone else down to your level.

And since it is so easy, every is welcome to come and do it, literally, and many of them do come and share in the wealth. It is the ultimate and most effective wealth equalization project ever. How many winters have you spent tripping pipe at 40 below soaking wet living in a camp, or slinging skids in a muddy ditch, or tramping mosquito infested swampy cutlines connecting seismograph cables? How many weeks a year have you spent in a camp away from your family? How much of your capital have you risked drilling holes in the ground since it is just so easy to do?

You guys just need a Louis Riel to lead us out!

      Are you up for it?

      They might hang you.

Great old article by W O Mitchell from McLeans before reporters were political activists.

Refreshing to read past the first half.

Be nice if someone smarter could make the link live.

Get your facts straight. Alberta won the lottery when it comes to oil reserves.

I don't hate prosperity. I think Norway is a great example of a well managed prosperous country. But I do hate greedy types who want it all for themselves, can't plan for the future, and when the unsustainable boom goes bust, blames everyone else.

Wikipedia "Oil reserves in Canada were estimated at 172 billion barrels (27×109 m3) as of the start of 2015 . This figure includes the oil sands reserves that are estimated by government regulators to be economically producible at current prices using current technology.[1] According to this figure, Canada's reserves are third only to Venezuela and Saudi Arabia. Over 95% of these reserves are in the oil sands deposits in the province of Alberta.[2] Alberta contains nearly all of Canada's oil sands and much of its conventional oil reserves. The balance is concentrated in several other provinces and territories. Saskatchewan and offshore areas of Newfoundland in particular have substantial oil production and reserves.[3] Alberta has 39% of Canada's remaining conventional oil reserves, offshore Newfoundland 28% and Saskatchewan 27%, but if oil sands are included, Alberta's share is over 98%.[4]

Ya, we won the geology lottery.
            But lost the geography lottery.
Had we lost the war of 1812.

Ha, wouldnt you know the anti oil crusader doesnt know sweet FA about our oil reserves.

There is just as much in S Sask as there is in the sands and its sweeter and worth more money. Just cant mine it.

https://www.cbc.ca/news/business/bakken-formation-will-it-fuel-canada-s-oil-industry-1.761789 There may be as many as 503 billion barrels of oil in the Bakken Formation that runs under Saskatchewan, Manitoba, North Dakota and Montana.

Price estimated between 271 billion and 503 billion barrels, he didn't include Canada, because he didn't expect to find any oil that far north. The fact that Saskatchewan is already producing five million barrels a year indicates that Price may have underestimated the amount by a significant amount.
"About 25 per cent of the Bakken is in Saskatchewan," said Schneider. "So it stands to reason that 25 per cent of the oil is too."

Little ol neglected socialist sask is one of the most valuable pieces of real estate in the world in terms of resources. Gas and oil under potash under farmland sitting on the countries best wind and solar resources. Too bad we has such shtty politicians.

Just like most of your posts a lot of speculation and no evidence to backup your statements. LOL
I didn’t work in the oil patch. Farming is too profitable and a whole lot more fun. And you get to watch your kids grow up and take part in their activities.

The oil jobs are great money but the transient nature and lack of job security sucks during the boom and busts.

Word has it some managers in the patch want kickbacks and a lot of asskissing if you want to keep your job. That sounds fun!

We need the oil jobs but we also need to start planning for a low carbon economy as the oil industry is going to wind down over the decades. Harper said by 2100 we wouldn’t be using fossil energy sources. That’s only 80 years away. 1 lifetime if you are born now.

So we are only about half way in the age of oil. Luduc strike was in 1946. Many older fields in the world are starting to decline including SA.

When 3 billion more people are stumbling around, solar and wind cant do it and fusion still 20 yrs away and we still aren't building nuke reactors and dictator oil fails like Venezuela. Alberta has an opportunity to really rack up some cash in the middle of the century when we find that out the hard way. I actually see better chances of a super boom than a dwindling industry.

But chuck can condemn the world to energy poverty if he likes.

You need to keep track of whose side you are on, in the previous post you were mad at Albertans because of they all took the easy road to riches thanks to good luck, now its less profitable than farming, less fun, you miss being home and enjoying your family, transient, no job security, etc. So why are you bitter about energy sector employees? It seems that you actually do understand, and agreed with my previous post about the nature of the work. Perhaps you can't keep track of which username you are logged in under, and ended up arguing with yourself unintentionally?

And for the record, I haven't done any of the jobs I listed either, I've spent my time on the periphery. There is a very good reason they need to pay those poor folks as much as they do to attract enough talent. There is no grand conspiracy, just a less than glamorous reality.

Meeting with premiers in 2nd term would probably end in a fist fight. Cut it up 3 or 4 ways and let the chips fall where they will.
If conservatives get in federally separation will be all silent Conservative premiers will quit bitching and the feds will go into hibernation.Wall was going to challenge the government for a better deal and Harper told him the conservatives needed the Quebec vote.So Wall backed off.
