Every salesman or company I deal with say "Farmers are on way to Huge Crops" Buy Time

It was almost like clockwork the adds started up Monday after the weekend rain. Buy Buy Buy.

I got the text on Sat that bins will be sold out so better put the orders in time is running outlets get it done.

I said to fill them with what Air come fall.

Yes, the rain put an end to the slide for this crop but let's look at the crop and reality. The early wheat has a head that will come out and it is going to be short and small. Yes, it could fill rows but the reality is yield is set. The number for fall will be lower than last year by probably 25%.

Peas are short and yellow and waterlogged on some fields again how many guys will have peas up to their chests. None probably. So yield will be down.

Lentils will they get taller as now most are really short.

Now the Canola shit show. One field that covered the ground in Saturdays travels from Regina to Canora over to Wadena up to Tisdale over to Melfort and down to Regina. One Section was 10 out of 10. Most were like WTF is growing out there. Yes, canola can recover we all know that but as an example, I had rain Two weeks ago and have rows now. The guys who got rain will have rows July 4th. How will flowering work? Oh, the Volcano will help. Yea helps freeze in August.

Take a drive north of Regina to Dafo. you will be amazed, shocked etc.

But its all companies. Spread bullshit from your Agronomist all way up. Give it everything you can make it look great as long as you keep spending. Truth is were now late as July is 6 days away and that is the day most will have seed germinating. So what frost free till October 10th.

Get your combine and headers. Buy Fungicides and spray spray pay pay. We have to protect our phoney balonie jobs Mr. Farmer so go hard.

Yes, the later wheat should do ok with those who have rain if frost stays away. Early yield is set. Frost and beautiful red kernels well its feed or a poor three. Discounts massive and one area wins and it's not the farmer.

Canola can recover but again 26 stages in a crop will be a money maker dream to the elevators and crushers. The farmers not much.

Peas dropped from 7 to 6:50 well it rained so we have to profit. Ah, check out volume moved since the shit show with India. Guess what it hasn't changed much and yet the only thing that has is farmers get a 2 dollar a bushel hair cut. Grain companies etc profit is still the same as before.

Malt barley has left the building. you will have seeds germinating now that will be green thin shit that could blow out the combine or might come into the sample and thus may as well piss on the sample as it won't make malt. Feed market will be crushed as so much on the market will drive down prices.

So who can find a positive in the current rain? Yes, it was good because the no crop scenario of quit spending and just collect your crop insurance/gars was bad for Gov/Supplier/chemfirt companies/equipment manufactures.

Now the pendulum has changed over to them and we will spend because it just might make a crop.

The big one has left the building were working on average to below now so lets giver.

With all the above negativity you posted above, which some is true, all I can say I’m so thankful for the rain!! Without that I wouldn’t have to be concerned with the above comments.

Don't get me wrong I was very happy to get the rain.

I just like to look at the big picture.

Will the rain make a big crop.

I would say since most were seeding so early the cereals are kind of predictable with the second third growth and then green in sample come fall.

Peas and lentils are so short how tall will they grow and how much seed?

Canola wow it's ugly so that means most will come up in July. Ah, it's our hottest month. The seed isn't a super seed that can handle anything. It's just a canola seed that needs a drink. But the plant might not cabbage and just go to flower. It knows time is runny down.

      Just being real.

Is there one farmer our two out there that are going balls to the wall with this crop now that it rained.

      I'm betting not that many.

        My guess
30% of crop is work down or greenfeed type.
50% of crop is crop insurance coverage level if no frost by September 25
        20% is decent.
Just observing having driven corner to corner of province mostly main roads but some back roads also.

The positive is that there will be feed grain to keep animals alive this winter. Average to slightly below on yield with poor quality will be the story this year. Always are some good pockets but in general not the case. Well sales persons need to eat too so they will have to try something.

I’d agree with those numbers from what I’ve seen also.

I had a question put to me yesterday. Since its the last seeding day could a guy phone Crap insurance take the reseeding benefit, quit all the fungicide/chem (To late now) and leave with no insurance for green feed that you can sell. Is that a money maker.

Yes, cattle will have a feed.

Maybe 30% of crops are in a good category but my point is rain came for most about two weeks too late. So it's going to have to be one heck of a frost free fall.

I don’t have an agronomist/agrologist to push and push things to make them look like they have done their work for you and made you millions.
I really don’t understand why farmers need these people. I’ve been farming for 33 years and have run a successful operation without them.
I guess it’s the new fad or something.
I didn’t grow canola this year which was one of two smart things I did do. My gut in Nov said no, and I held my ground. Most canola around here is a disaster.
I think at the end there will be some surprises, there always is.
You must have a whopper coming if sales guys of all types keep approaching you.

No, the others have left the building now they are going after the ones who didn't rush the Ag more than ever a craze.

If it's up they want their cut.

There is a better chance of the salesman getting a handout than the primary producer...

There were more people manning the booths at FPS than there were farmers....

$9 canola does not buy a fukin thing
Maybe be interested if the Ag industry would of stepped up and actually supported farmers ...... but they have been deftly silent on all the trade issues in pulses and canola ..
so they can sit with empty wallets for the balance of the year.
Also one does not need to add a thing to an average crop at best that’s in general late .... to be honest, it would be foolish in most cases this year

The graincos got a 150 million dollar helping hand....thats not coming to producers....

AGT got 110 million to repair a gifted rail line with no performance matrix....just to pay fairfax...

etc etc etc I get tired of repeating this stuff and not one farm organization will stand up and speak on behalf of primary producers....

It will be too late for alot of farmers....that have paid for the service of being represented,,,,

It rained but nearly a MONTH later than 2018 bin buster. Crops very late, uneven germ, weedy as heck, a real MESS come harvest if not worked under. You could spray all summer this year, new weeds a coming, certainly after you sprayed. Guys tell me they are spraying even if heading to keep fields clean for 2020.
