GARS promotes that idea of continuing to spend...your premiums don't go up but your coverage does....

Neighbors wheat crop seeded early like Apr 30th or something stood a lot of dry cold weather and was looking ok from the road. Got its first taste of moisture and said f this I am heading out and done for this yr. Heading out nearly a month early. Safe to say that crop has been cut in half.

Canola is way behind around here. Even guys who got it started seeding into stubble now see it didn't grow much in that time. Looks to be 2-3 weeks behind the norm. Guys like me who didn't get it started are looking at visible rows just getting established this week. Gonna have to make up some ground fast to avoid a fall frost. Dad said get the swather out. Good thing we didn't sell it.

The chem doesn't work fast enough in canola if you get a weather event. Our conditions are much like last yr, uneven late crop. We were watching and waiting for it to even out end of Aug then get a the news an early frost coming. Had to lay it all down, better in swath when it freezes. I expect something like that to be in the cards this yr again.
