But the math that Peter Zeihan has put forward is undeniable. AB (and SK) contribution to equalization will have to triple to keep this country afloat. The feds are trying to make moves that keep Ab locked in Canada so they can suck the payments off forever. This is not sustainable.

The socialists includes farmers who receive over 3 billion dollars in annual subsidies in Canada. Most of which is safety nets and access to generous and below market credit terms from the FCC.
Plus supply managed farmers receive the states protection with tariffs and border import controls with guaranteed cost of production formulas.
Let us know when you find your utopian free market paradise. It certainly doesn't exist in any G7 or G20 country that I know of.

Crop insurance premiums are 1/2 paid for by the feds and the provinces. Your Agrinvest account gets a matching deposit from governments. FCC is s state run competitor to the banks regardless of the current rates. Why not get rid of it and let the market take over the financing of agriculture?
Agristability pays out significant amounts of taxpayers dollars to farms when disaster strikes and margins fall. $200 million last year in Saskatchewan I believe. Number needs to be checked.
Some these are good and needed programs. But your statement western farmers receive no subsidies is wrong.

When Scheer described himself as Smiling Harper 2.0 he wasn't kidding. Smiling 2.0 can't even come up with an original attack ad against Trudeau. His "Never Ready" ad is knock off to Closest Boy's 2015 attack ad "Just Not Ready" ad. Even the same actors are being used in the 2019 ad as the 2015 ad.
We all know how successful the Cons were in Oct 2015.
Scheer is as much qualified to be PM of Canada as Trudeau is. The Con's really blew their opportunity to defeat the Liberals, but they weren't even smart enough to put the right leader of their party in charge.
