Long weekend , government workers on va ca ..... system on auto computer mode. The “weather models” would have never caught that, and they did not. And build up was so fast radar was working but storms got massive quick and left people stranded .
Zero watch’s even posted up until it was happening........ to late when weather bombs like that occur .
Point is the set up was there with a charged atmosphere 12 hrs before and south winds feeding that .
They simply were not doing there job .... again .

I had family camping at Murray Doell. I spoke with them this morning, its a terrible situation. It was pure terror as events unfolded. Everyone was caught off guard, families had flipped over picnic tables for cover. They couldn’t make it back to there campers. 30” trees snapped like toothpicks. I think Environment Canada has a few questions to answer. They were amazed by the first responders and volunteers. It seemed like within minutes of the storm being over they could hear chainsaws and people helping each other.

We now have a "climate emergency" declared and what has been done to improve short term forecasting? If there's any degree of merit in this giant soap opera the federal govt is performing in, it should start with a ramping up of tech at environment Canada.... otherwise it's just semantics. The US has 10x the weather stations in operation to give warning on tornadoes etc, we can't get a functional radar in Sask. The cynic in me says they'll serve us to mother nature in a "sacrifice" to help the cause. Whichever side of the debate you are on is irrelevant, this is a giant opportunity for an update. Thoughts and prayers for those affected at the camp ground.

All of Environment Canada's money is going to the Caribbean.

I've been in a ploughwind. If you were in the bush it would be hard grasp the magnitude coming at you. And she's fast.
Even in our open yard, your spidey sense only tingled early enough to batten some hatches.

Yet there were dire warning about storms in southern MB at least 24 hours ahead of the predicted event last evening and nothing materialized as far as I'm aware - maybe some storms veered north to Dauphin. All the forecasts were quite wide of the mark on these events.

When we had the tornado here a couple years ago there weren’t any warnings for one until it was on the ground. Not even funnel cloud watches.

Took people posting photos online and all of a sudden the warning came out.

Then there’s the storms they say have good rotation and send out warnings and they look like little puff balls as they go by with hardly a gust.

They do seem to be able to tell wind gusts and rotation but can’t really tell easily if a tornado forms or touches down. You usually have a couple days of them talking to locals and witnesses to see if anything did touch down. Can’t say that they seem to be the easiest weather event to predict.

It was 100% predictable that something was going to hit . The ball was dropped....
zero watches were even in place , let alone warnings ..... those people had no hope in hell for Christ sakes ....

It was predictable for at least 6 hrs ahead ... WTF

It is incomprehensible that some are downplaying the significance of that .
It was not a random situation, the whole north blew up on a charged system.
Have a great safe weekend, watch the sky’s , they tell you stories ... if your not listening to b/S on line ....
or ignore the world around you and listen to the constant b/S about climate change on the weather network and environment Mackina instead of actually doing their fukin job .... wow
