            Hopefully only few injuries
            Initial reports were not good
Pike lake Alberta was a bad one to hit campers in 1989 I believe it was .

Sad to see such an intense system blow up with virtually not so much and a start watch from anyone .
Yes the potential it there most days this time of year but that area had not so much as a weather watch before this event hit . Everyone up there was caught off guard.
These storms built up over this area and moved north
They were building by 2 pm , we seen them start to tower . Yet nothing was issued till just minutes before they hit the northern park belt . Sad to see what we pay for in environment Canada .
I guess being the long weekend their employees had other more pressing things to do rather than their job .
The radar did show them thank goodness but they built up so fast they were on top of areas before radar could keep up.
The sky’s early Saturday morning north of here showed a foreboding warning .
This picture was from my brothers farm at 3:30 am Saturday morning looking due north . That whole area got nailed with storms 12 hr later ........

That’s a massive amount of energy in the atmosphere...... somebody at environment Canada or the weather network should have picked up on this . The conditions were extremely charged in the atmosphere yesterday north of here and not nearly a word from any weather outlet other than a 30% chance ..... which is there go to on long weekends..

Plus there were predictable south winds feeding this whole system yesterday
It was not just one isolated storm cell
It covered from west of the Lac des Ieles area to almost Prince Albert
Major cells got brewed up all along that line just north of here with out so much as a weather watch

I hope boats were off the lake before the winds hit. Trailers and tents in a tornado don’t give much protection but high waves have sunk a lot of boats on big water. Worried for all the families with little children and hoping all injuries are not too serious. Keep safe.

There are some good reports now coming out on CTV on eyewitness. Sounds like it was an immediate and very scary weather event for sure

Warning should of been sent to cell phones from environment canada they should of picked up on this storm minor or major as it was forming

Long weekend , government workers on va ca ..... system on auto computer mode. The “weather models” would have never caught that, and they did not. And build up was so fast radar was working but storms got massive quick and left people stranded .
Zero watch’s even posted up until it was happening........ to late when weather bombs like that occur .
Point is the set up was there with a charged atmosphere 12 hrs before and south winds feeding that .
They simply were not doing there job .... again .

I had family camping at Murray Doell. I spoke with them this morning, its a terrible situation. It was pure terror as events unfolded. Everyone was caught off guard, families had flipped over picnic tables for cover. They couldn’t make it back to there campers. 30” trees snapped like toothpicks. I think Environment Canada has a few questions to answer. They were amazed by the first responders and volunteers. It seemed like within minutes of the storm being over they could hear chainsaws and people helping each other.

We now have a "climate emergency" declared and what has been done to improve short term forecasting? If there's any degree of merit in this giant soap opera the federal govt is performing in, it should start with a ramping up of tech at environment Canada.... otherwise it's just semantics. The US has 10x the weather stations in operation to give warning on tornadoes etc, we can't get a functional radar in Sask. The cynic in me says they'll serve us to mother nature in a "sacrifice" to help the cause. Whichever side of the debate you are on is irrelevant, this is a giant opportunity for an update. Thoughts and prayers for those affected at the camp ground.
