As a political movement the truck convoy was a failure and likely had zero influence on the subsequent decision. Regardless the farm vote in either country is insignificant.
Yup ...the farm vote in the states is so insignificant that they have managed 27 billion and counting in direct support in the last two years....

It would not be this peaceful all of a sudden utopia it would be chaos at best. How would all our goods going east go east? Bc that would always be a pain in the ass even if they did join the separation there is a lot of lefties controling that province would be endless negotiations and they’d hold the rest of us by the Yonkers what other option would we have to export?
They truly believe in Ottawa we do not exist economically, much like grass just pointed out ... they can hit the ignore button
Just my opinion....

The USA farm states have a lot of say in the senate and get a lot of attention from Trump.....unlike with the Trudeau regime where SNC-Lavalin and Bombardier call the shots.
North Dakota = 2 senators
South Dakota = 2 senators
Wyoming = 2 senators
Montana = 2 senators
Loony California = 2 senators
Liberal New York = 2 senators

I would say it failed on number of points. First of all the ties to racist/anti-immigrant cost it credibility and diluted the message - one of the original convoy groups in fact cancelled their whole convoy to disassociate themselves from extremists within the yellow vest movement. The convoy that did finally make it to Ottawa had to change their name from Yellow vests to United we Roll for the same reason.
Secondly the convoy lacked participation as time wore on - sure it's easy to get a big crowds in trucks in Red Deer and perhaps it peaked in Regina at 7-800 by media reports - but then it fizzled. A local paper here was quoting only 60 vehicles passing through Virden, only 15 of which were Semis although they did say 200 in Ottawa. Seems like lots of fair weather supporters in their own backyards but not so many with the dedication to follow through to Ottawa where numbers were critical.
Lastly, and no fault of the organisers or participants, was the timing to land up in Ottawa just when the SNC/JWR scandal broke. That was bad luck but there was no way to predict it but ultimately starved them of the oxygen of publicity when they needed it. You can talk oilfield anger any day of the week in the west, that's easy but it doesn't get you on the national stage. The fact they never even got a meeting with anyone from the Governing party after making it to Ottawa was an indication of failure.

Anyone who supports carbon taxes, Bill C-69, Bill C-48 and can’t comprehend why oil is better in a pipeline vs on rail......is out of touch with the best interests of prairie grain farmers.
