No, you can't give everybody the same that would be SOCIALIST. It has to be means tested like all the other SOCIALIST welfare programs that all the ANTI-SOCIALIST posters on here routinely condemn. There is a base payment per acre but if you take more than one foreign holiday annually it gets scaled back 25%, more than 2 you lose 50% etc.

The only payment that would seem logical would be a Canadian version of MFP 1.0 & 2.0.
Canola, lentils, chickpeas, durum, pork are big enough in Quebec so don’t expect anything.

Pretty simple, everyone has a Agrinvest account, your deposit and the government's matching contribution is determined by your eligible sales. If you grow a commodity or animal that the price has been affected by these trade disruptions you will have historical data of your sales and get paid accordingly. So if you grow more canola than your neighbor the Chinese ban on imports affects you more than him, but your data shows that so you would be compensated more than him, not equal but fair.

Example: If you historically average $1,000,000.00 worth of canola sales a year and the price of canola has
fallen 20% you should get a $200,000.00 payment deposited into your agrinvest account.

This can be done with any commodity or animal that has been affected. Like I said, not equal but fair, the program is in place already, it could be done tomorrow. A per acre payment is just a recipe for disaster.
