Add another week for canola and spring wheat puts majority of crop ahead of mid August frost for severe yield loss.
Maybe twenty per cent late seeded and poor germination vulnerable to normal first frost date of early September.

Wow it's amazing how things grow in different areas, cereals just finished heading out here. Canola flowering. On par for normal but wont be turning a wheel till September.

Mother nature is doing a hell of a job of convection desiccation around here the last 8 or 9 days.

Guys that thought they were going to be swathing the end of september if weather allowed it will be straight cutting the beginning of september.

Second growth is just in the boot and with high heat, and high wind, the canopy has completely dried out, soil reserves are gone, and plants are getting thin and whispy at best, and crunchy at worst. If the second growth has enough energy to get the head out of the sheath that will be about it.

Im struggling to keep newer (5-7 year old) trees alive in the yard.

To add insult to injury, the little bit of hay that guys were trying to cut is going to need a rake job at best, and the worst i've seen is the swaths are completely gone after the last few days of wind. It's pretty impressive when cut hay is hanging in the powerlines.

On the plus side, I think we'll beat the frost unless it shows up before the 3rd weekend of august.

Completely difference world here near Edmonton where flooding is the issue. It seem all the rain system fail to move SE and just sit here and dump rain. Another 1.25 inches last night but further north got 2.5 inches. This is after 16 in or so since the beginning of June. Not much hay made because it is being washed.

Combines started rolling in South East Alberta on Thursday. Have seen barley, peas and lentil fields done. Truckers aren't busy, maybe not even required in some cases. Likely some winter wheat done as well.

some winter wheat coming off here. spring wheat, oats barley likely another week or so for the earliest fields, canola swathing or desiccation about a week to go. another 1" rain here would be perfect for corn and beans before the wheat is ready to go.

Another goofy one here.
Vegetative state here would not quit. Peas 4' tall before they fell over.
Canola tall but just pods on top foot.
Yellow for first of Aug???? WTH
It's going to be late late.
Barley all flat.. keep the swather lol.
I've never seen tall flax before.
No sun all season. And disease!
Potholes full yet the ground keeps soaking it up.

We’re late three weeks. Early canola seeded, shutting down. One section is just in full flower yet could be a problem. Rest will be done by next weekend. Wheat early changing late filling.

Barley filling nice.

Peas filling nice.

Disease min.

Rain total close to 9 in for the year since April 1

Started last year around Aug 10, no where near that this year. Thinking end of Aug, looked at weather this wk looks like the heat coming back.
Would like to see an inch for the later cereals to fill them nice, but lentils don’t need anymore to drink. Although the mornings are really wet so there must be good moisture out there yet.

That little 33 deg day turned a lot of wheat crops that were pretty green a few days earlier.

Lentils dessicated in about 2 weeks, end of Aug harvest. Durum, Canola will be sept for sure.

Most of my canola coming out of flower. Cereals starting to milk out. Been fortunate for most part to have avoided the torrential downpours others around us have gotten. Had some wicked wind Saturday and Sunday. Haying has been a pain but over 2/3 done. Still though it’s a mixed bag around the area. Some crops are going to be late primarily canola as lots in full flower and thin enough that it’s still branching. Very few have got much hay made especially on level with heavier stands. It can get hot and dry now.

Our wheat is starting to turn , should be into it by Sept 15 or so
Peas will be all full by weekend or so , should be desiccated by the 15-20th
First canola full pod and filling , should be swathing it about the same time as spraying the peas.
Blackbeans should be ready by first week of September
Soybeans, well , we will see . They are podding well , but got hit with hail Saturday so I have no idea at this point
Barley fully headed out and should be first week of September as well
We are on pace for a normal harvest date

Lots of canola in area very uneven stages some just into full bloom
Most crops still a week behind , some two .

I used fungicide on my wheat and oats. Neighbor grows same wheat and doesn’t use any fungicide. He planted a good week later and his is starting to get a lighter hue. The variety is really early hrs but I don’t think it’s that early.
