The difference is that AR15s and non restricted variants are used in several sporting competitions. IPSC carbine and 3 gun events are popular in every city. All participants are the most vetted people in Canada. They are all extremely focused on safety and all aspects of proper firearm handling. All ages. All sexes.

I don't know of any sporting events with hand grenades, however, you can buy a pressure cooker in any hardware store, and with very little ingenuity you can have something akin to a grenade. Again, motivation.

I think the solution is more checks and training and evaluations of the buyers not banning the equipment. Trudeau is going to try that up here his next term even though whatever killings Canada has are handguns in poor migrant neighborhoods of Toronto. There exists a portion of society who wish to remove the right of citizens to own firearms.

I read every Swiss MUST keep the rifle and practice every year given a number of rounds to fire.
