Pure speculation, trying to make your case. The fact remains Supply Management has always been a federal system and is treated as such by the federal government.

Grass come on , this was purely about buying votes . Dairy has a guaranteed income , they really need support ????
Grain and cattle producers have zero guarantee.... huge difference.

They had a guaranteed market price for their milk but when Harper compromised that arrangement he admitted he would have to compensate dairy farmers for that. Harper promised that money to dairy farmers so it's rather unfair to say it is Trudeau trying to buy votes with something Harper set in motion.

While agree with what you said above ....why didn't Trudeau pay it out in the first year of his mandate instead of waiting 60 days before the election...

As much as we may cordially disagree ...even you have to admit this was vote buying by Trudeau....

grass conveniently forgets that nobody can actually start a fing dairy farm here in the west because Quebec has a stranglehold monopoly on that business.

Harper said it himself, October 5th 2015 (14 days before the election - wasn't that vote buying too bucket?)

To compensate Canadian dairy and poultry farmers for potential financial losses from the deal, the government is promising to invest $4.3 billion over the next 15 years in new income- and quota guarantees, and other programs to keep dairy and poultry farmers “financially whole.”

“I know what the criticisms are, but the supply management system is the basis of the rural economy in significant parts of our country. Its continuity and stability is essential for those parts of our country,” Harper said.

More lies. Here is a whole page of opportunities in Alberta alone - dairy farmers buying and selling all the time. Doubtful if most grain farmers would take to milking cows 365 days a year though. If you want to have at it - sell your over priced land, expensive machinery and invest in something that you think guarantees you money for nothing.

Right but they were working on the deal ....Trudeau has had 4 years to put it out....he didn't. ...

My guess if harper would have won it would have been sent out...

Trudeau did nothing but use it as an ace in his sleeve....

As for buying votes in Quebec - there are over 6 million potential voters but only 8000 dairy farms. Yup, sounds likely they control the political destiny of a province and country.

Greenland would be a smart move for the US on very many fronts . Natural resources are huge , extremely strategic location for the US .
Much like the purchase of Alaska from the Russians that proved to be invaluable to the US , it was completely ridiculous at the time to people with zero vision ...
